Works out of the box

gamemoderun %command%
Reporting for the steam version of the game (the one installs and runs through steam without wargaming's game center). It's a smoothsailing overall. Easily be able to access all in game features (e.g armory, dockyard, premium shop) without significant performance issue. Something I experienced with the wargaming downloaded .exe running with lutris. Gameplay's flawless, no performance issues, strange jitters, etc. Haven't tried the mods here in the steam version yet (either from the wargaming mod center or third party mods such as aslain's). And yes, after March 2025, your wargaming account WORKS IN STEAM!! Just link your account in wargaming's account manager with steam, and off to the seas!!

When you set your resolution to anything other than native, it just goes back to native after a restart. Not a big deal though.

Even though performance is slightly lower than on Windows, the game is very playable (stable 85 fps @1440p).
The FPS is around 10-15% less than on Windows given the same GFX settings.

The Armory screen lags, something weird, but it always did that in my version of Lutris
In my last report I said it was completely non functional. So my issue was, and I didn't realize it at the time, I had it installed to an NTFS drive. I had to do some debugging to find out that the game didn't have any file system permissions, so it couldn't read the game files lol.
Don't install to an NTFS drive lmao.
Also if you wanna add modpacks (Like Aslains), get Lutris, add this game manually, and give it the wineprefix in the compatdata folder, and in Lutris, select 'Run EXE inside Wine Prefix'. If you wanna be even more funny, just run the modpack installer, and point it to the compdata wineprefix lol.

LD_PRELOAD="" %command%
My last report concluded the game was unplayable because it wont even start no matter what proton version you used, this seems to have been fixed in a recent hotfix and as of today (03/29/25) the game is working flawlessly with ProtonGE 9-26, probably other Proton version will also work.

Game does not start at all.
LD_PRELOAD="" %command%
Since I guess last update the game won't even start no matter what Proton version you use, atleast, the ones I tried.
Standard Experimental GE 9-23 GE 9-26

LD_PRELOAD="" %command%
Usually the game runs pretty well without much work, however, if you feel sudden lag or stuttering, remember to start it with LD_PRELOAD="" %command% throught steam.

Doesn't Start
No idea why, it wont start in any version of proton. Works fine when installed through lutris. I guess the Steam version is different?

If there where no crashes.
Crashed every time after a while

A great out of the box experience! I actually didn't expect it at first, since I used the Wargaming Launcher and not Steam itself.
Once in scope mode, my rudder did not respond. But after leaving scope mode it worked again.
Played 3 more games. No more problems.
Funnily enough, I still had to map minimap zoom in & zoom out to new keys during the game, as a different keyboard layout was recognized. Strangely enough, the game chat itself did not.

Crackling on only during the loading screen, otherwise it's smoothing sailing.
Trying to access other programs, on a second monitor too, aren't as smooth as on Windows.
I: installed Lutris; installed Wine; searched Lutris for and downloaded Wargaming Game Center; launch WGC through Lutris; install WoWs... to play, open Lutris, click on WGC, press play on WoWs launcher.

A great out-of-the-box experience.

I am shocked that this game runs, i had been told by many who tried in the past that it had issues getting past the login screen but i had no such issues. The only problem with this game on the Steam Deck is that all controls show PC glyphs and not controller glyphs, and any button that requires you to click it to progress (Such as the enter battle button after matchmaking) requires you to use the right thumbstick to move the cursor to it.
Used the Lutris install script to create Wine prefix without installing the launcher. Then launched the wargaming launcher .exe within the Wine prefix to install the launcher and WoWs.
Lighting reflections on ships from the water's surface is brighter than Windows.
Shift key was not working for binocs. Re-bound to space key to resolve.
Armory and News menus are slow to load and rarely failed to load.
You are unable to link a Wargaming-bound account to your Steam account. While I did test on Proton via Steam and it worked great, using the Wargaming launcher through Lutris also works great for my Wargaming locked account.
Fedora 41 did not run at all proton experimental

prime-run taskset -c 0-7, 16-23 manguhud %command%
Same experience as on Windows. Install of Aslains Mods via wine into the WoWs folder.

Weird slight fps drops.

The WGC install script
My WOWS account is a WG account and therefore i cant play the steam-version with it..

Works perfectly with Proton-GE
Lots of artifacts/colors/glittering while in port. Normal game play seems fine so far.

on my opensuse tumbleweed it just works like a dream
use opensuse, out of the box experience!

Everything worked fine out of the box with the GE-Proton9-5 Version. Nothing needed to be changed
Could load into games without any issues. Everything worked fine. I would even think that the change of the Proton version is not needed but I didn't test it since I always use the GE Version of Proton.

Have to run in native resolution (3840x2160). Caused issues when scaling down resolutions.
I'm reporting for the Wargaming version of World of Warships (not the ones on Steam store) using Lutris to run the .exe installer. Game's playable in general, no features causing crash, in-game store works as intended. No stutters/jitters/glitches in-game. However, currently have to run in native resolution (3840x2160) in full screen mode. Will caused issues when scaling down to 1080 (i.e game got scaled down as well to a tiny window, misplaced buttons by a mile god knows where). Might need to increase scaling % value in game settings but haven't tried it yet.

Windows-like experience out of the box with proton experimental 7/3/2024
Windowed cursor offeset
Shift did not work when clicked fast
I already had a wargaming account, so steam install wouldnt quite do it for me. Instead grab the wargaming download executable, add it as a non steam game in your steam library and force proton experimental in its properties. The launcher downloads and launches after that finished, you click download, and the game starts and plays without any problems!

Make sure to do a full re-install and don't import files over. Effectively zero difference from Windows once it's running.
Very rare crackling
Default Scope-Zoom on Shift key would not work unless held down, rebind to mouse works completely fine.
Crashes if trying to quit from inside a match, fine from main menu.
Only launches when installed on EXT4 partition, will not run from other file formats.
There's some differences in menu transparency, otherwise visually and performance identical on both dedicated Nvidia and integrated AMD graphics.

Works with GE 8-4 but does not work with newer version, wondering if there's a easy way to bisect the problem (using aur/proton-ge-custom-bin

Corre sin problema alguno, cualquier version de proton parece funcionar sin problemas, no hay problemas en el multijugador

Crash pretty much immediately
The game crashed after loading for about 10 seconds and will not show anything. Need to switch to another window and force stop the game and related process. If using other versions of proton, the whole OS freezes and need to force reboot the PC. Though I haven't checked if the latest version of drivers are being used and haven't tried those workarounds in other websites. Will update later.
OS: Fedora 39 KDE Proton: 8.0-4
Working OOTB

Not sure if it's Linux-related but for some reason I can't get out of the zoomed-in aiming view (left shift)
Works well on both Proton Experimental and GE-Proton8-25

There are not enough button options for all the possible ship or communication commands so I picked what commands were most important to me.
The game will not get past the login screen at this time unless in forced experimental. Otherwise it is overall a great experience on the steam deck. The controls take some time to get used to but after a couple dozen matches it becomes second nature. The steam deck is great for playing matches.

Switching to proton GE 8-4 makes the game run perfectly.

The only version that worked for me was GE-Proton8-4
