Worked perfectly, performance comparable to native, same settings, glitches same as on windows. Don't need BattlEye? Use Proton!
only played on non-battleye-servers
Runs very well if you follow the steps provided. Getting 200+ fps when there's not a lot going on.
EA / Reload decided that virtue signalling is more important than fair treatment of players.
EA removed proton support after YEARS of no problems. Framing the whole linux player base as cheaters is despicable and also flat out wrong. Boycott EA.
fixes dialogs getting out of sync / repeating
protontricks winecfg, enable virtual desktop and set correct resolution
fixed with virtual desktop. Also enable fps cap (mine needed to be at 85) to get rid of horrible stuttering.
As others have said, you need to disable EAC and uplay overlay, start it once in online mode, let it crash, then put uplay in offline mode and you're able to play.
In my case, I had to replace the proton-supplied DXVK version with the newest, otherwise the graphics glitched out (everything way too dark / bright, unplayable).
Performance is pretty good, getting 60-100fps on WQHD with everything on ultra, motion blur off.
Gotta disable uplay overlay and close the uplay window which appears after about 3mins ingame, otherwise getting horrible mouse stutters. Also had to replace the dinput8.dll with the windows 7 one, otherwise could not steer vehicles. Getting the same problem as in FC5 with steam reinstalling .Net 3.5 every time. Everything else works ootb and sets itself up.
Everything except for saving working perfectly under proton 5.0.1
Although it says "saving" at many points, it does not save.
Unlike the native version, with proton it launches on the right screen. Runs better too!
Runs perfectly with high framerates (everything on ultra, WQHD Res). Had to disable instanced rendering in graphics settings to get rid of that weird fps cap on Hue City.
As for the game itself, it runs flawlessly with proton. The main problem of course still is EAC, which prevents you from playing on servers with it.
However, there is one single server right now which doesn't have it enabled (TuxFriends 32 Slots), so you technically can play online right now making the game fully playable.
Still rating it silver because it is only one server after all.
Works very well out of the box, everything set itself up, getting 70-90fps on WQHD
Heavy stuttering, especially in the beginning
Unplayable from HDD, very good experience on SSD (stuttering nearly completely gone)
gamemoderun %command%
Everything on epic, raytracing on, no upscaling (native resolution 2560x1440), getting at least 90fps everywhere.
I get occasional frametime hitches (barely noticable), possibly due to shader compilation. Had this with the first game as well, it went away after a while.
Couldn't get the native version to run on the right screen, so I switched to proton which works like a charm.
Running the experimental branch, everything, including mouse in the menus, works. Getting 80-110fps.
steamtinkerlaunch %command%
Using >200 mods through steamtinkerlaunch / Mod Organizer 2
Doesn't work with proton. Works well with regular wine (install steam in wine, then install the game there, tips on winehq).
I only tried this because this game doesn't support crossplay between Windows and Linux. When trying multiplayer with the aforementioned wine-steam-method, I got a warning that game files may be compromised which can be gotten rid of by pressing escape.
