There is exception window when trying to crouch, which makes game unplayable
gamemode + RADV_PERFTEST=aco
I was able to turn on Gameworks settings that are available on AMD cards and most of the time performance exceeded 60 fps. I don't know how shader cashes contributed to it though.
While game is definetely playable enough for me, using Windows is still far superior here.
Enabled gamemode and RADV_PERFTEST=aco env variable
Mouse can stop moving in game if performance will drop
If textures were set to anything other than very low, the game will try allocate more VRAM than system has, which kills performance completely. Other than that VSYNC and dynamic ingame resolution can also decrease performance (not like textures, but still)
Additionally if esync is still on, stutter is unbearable
For this one game, and this game only, I needed to switch to AMDVLK. Mesa causes problems with overalocation of memory that doesn't exist on AMDVLK.
AMDVLK just for this one game instead default mesa
After driver change to AMDVLK I'm finally pleased with result. Performance is near Windows now for me.
Shader compiling is way less choppy with Esync disabled
For this one game I used AMDVLK driver without replacing mesa! Download it from release page https://github.com/GPUOpen-Drivers/AMDVLK/releases. Manualy unpack deb file to directory you wish to use. Go to "your amdvlk path"/usr/share/vulkan/icd.d/ and edit amd_icd64.json by fixing your current directory path in file. Then set following env variables with your directory path LD_LIBRARY_PATH={directory}/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH VK_ICD_FILENAMES={directory}/etc/vulkan/icd.d/amd_icd64.json
Using AMDVLK fixes memory overallocation problems I have experienced while using texture settings other than very low.
Also gamemode was used with it.
Minor slowdowns caused by shader cashing
Not working after upgrade to proton 5
It seems playable with older proton version 4.11-12. Tested with both wined3d and dxvk.
With first launch Rockstart Launcher failed to start. It launched with second attempt. There is a problem that now I cannot force the game to accept commandline arguments, and I'm bounded by 512mb VRAM. I cannot run higher textures and so on...
Added aco, gamemode, and WINEDLLOVERRIDES=winedbg.exe=d as I have an impression that launcher has problem without it...
Definetely broken
Tried different solutions. I was able to make workaround issues with .net and directx problems, but at the end unknown error stopped me from playing
I had to enable game once in 800x600, and on second run switch to 1920x1080 because it wouldn't go to fullsceen without it
Download dgvoodoo. http://www.dege.freeweb.hu/dgVoodoo2/dgVoodoo2.html Unpack dlls from MS/x86 to game directory. Run override all 4 dlls either in command params or via winecfg on game prefix. Only thing that doesn't work is video playback, but there are only 3 clips at game launch with logos, so not much of an issue.
I was able to finish whole game on linux
It's probably a problem with game itself (seen similar reports on windows) but it can switch to 4.0 speaker setup while working in stereo, which can result with loosing speach. After reverting sound to stereo in gnome panel it worked fine.
Artefacts appeared only in one cutscene before bossfight. I looked like instead smoke black texture was displayed.
Works way better and it's easier than on windows
Make sure that 3D acceleration is enabled in game settings because software renderer is broken. Graphical issues that aopear on windows are not visible here at all.
Mouse is way too sensitive
Problem is related to DXVK as default dx9 implementation in proton 5. Use wined3d and it works totaly fine.
Steam overlay can break the game
