Occasional Crashes after "Unseen" update
This game worked out of the box before the Unseen update. Afterwards, I experienced a few crashes after entering new zones until I added "PROTON_LOG=1 %command%" to the launch options.
SteamDeck=1 %command% -PSOCompileMode=1
Slightly less FPS compared to windows, but still very playable
Would recommend setting launch options. Slight (<10%) performance degradation compared to Windows, but easily remedied with turning down certain video settings.
Launcher Only on Linux
The first beta test had my hopes up. It worked perfectly fine then, but 2nd beta test onward has had this behavior. I hoped it was a fluke in the earlier beta, tried different proton versions and even tried "SteamDeck=1 %command%" since that helps with other games (like Marvel Rivals), but no success. At this point, I wouldn't even install the game on Windows.
Tinkering with the game settings seems mandatory in my experience, but your mileage may vary.
PROTON_LOG=1 RADV_PERFTEST=gpl,nggc gamemoderun %command%
Changed the following settings in default winetricks/protontricks: "alldlls=builtin","renderer=vulkan"
I love this game enough to spent many MANY hours playing with settings, even dual booting windows to play it smoothly as a treat periodically. Across different Ubuntu,CachyOs,Pop_OS, and Bazzite, different proton versions, steam installs, dll tweaks, and etc, only changing the renderer to vulkan, and dlls to builtin within protontricks settings seems to have removed the stutter on my end. So glad to finally play this game on Linux with an experience close to Windows (although I still get the occasional crash).
PROTON_LOG=1 %command%
Works pretty much out of the box with the Proton 10.0-1 beta, but it's just as buggy on Linux as Windows. Any bug I've had in game was also replicated by friends in windows in the same lobby.
