The game crashed my whole system once, but it didn't happen again.
me me big boy
Crackling only occurred on Pop!_OS. I've had no issues on Manjaro.
Graphical glitches during loading screens on Wayland.
Works perfectly out of the box. Shame there's no native Linux version, but it works well enough that it doesn't really matter.
The game seems to have a bad problem with audio latency. This is definitely a Proton bug and not me sucking at the game.
Overall, the game works very well.
Doesn't work at all

A loading screen appears but the game just fails to load the anti-cheat module. The Linux binary is in the game's files so it may just need a Proton update.

When entering Roundtable Hold for the first time, the screen flashed extremely quickly. I could imagine this being an issue if you have epilepsy.
Overall, it's pretty much been smooth sailing for me. Disabling EAC seems to alleviate some of the performance issues (which also happen on Windows) as long as you're OK with losing access to the online features.
The game loads, but I can't log in.
Moved easyanticheat_x64.so to the plugins folder
When the game opens, I get an error that says "Failed to login, please check your connection". Unless I'm doing something wrong (which is certainly possible), the F2P version of the game won't run on Linux/Steam Deck.
DXVK_ASYNC=1 PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 PROTON_HIDE_NVIDIA_GPU=1
This can be fixed by going to the GNOME overview, selecting another application, and going back into GTAV. I'm assuming this is a GNOME issue since I've seen it in at least one other game.
I remember some slight stuttering happening on Windows so I don't think it's Linux-specific. You can reduce the stuttering by switching to DirectX 11.
The game couldn't find any of my custom music.
Doesn't even start.
The game apparently doesn't use kernel-level anticheat, so unless the developers were lying, this should hopefully just be a Proton bug.
Mouse cursor disappears on screen between levels, have to shake it to get it back
Slight stuttering
The new Quake remaster works great on Proton. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like it's possible to connect to multiplayer servers.
Under Windows, the game has a bug where controller input is duplicated. This doesn't happen under Proton.
On some distros (specifically Pop!_OS and Manjaro), videos play slowly the first time you play the game. This issue doesn't happen on Arch (btw).
I played the game through Proton to use a widescreen mod. I did experience some graphical glitches (in one fight in Hotland, the battle box was off-center), but these were likely caused by the mod, not Proton.
The game's performance tanks on the latest Nvidia drivers. It was perfectly fine under 470.x.
There's some significant screen tearing under Wayland, although this seems to happen in every game with a capped frame rate.
On Optimus laptops, the game seems to launch with the Intel card even when run with PRIME. Remove the Intel Vulkan drivers (vulkan-intel on Arch-based distros) you want to play the game at an acceptable frame rate.
