Proton 9.0-4: Slight slowdown during rainy scenes - great performance overall.
Only on moments of graphical lag - it was somewhat fixed by looking down so the rain effects weren't shown/rendered.
Considerable slowdown during scenes with rain - especially the motorhome scene and a bit during the motel. Keyboard input lagged considerably.
Lag begins and increases on long playing sessions. After, say, the 70 minutes mark, it begins to lag and scales quickly, making it almost unplayable given the difficulty and the fact you can't save and relaunch the game, which fixes the lag.
Native on Ubuntu is better than the Windows version
Honestly, Feral did an absolutely amazing job. Running Medieval 2 on Ubuntu is far, far better than running it on Windows 10. It's smooth, the controls are better and the graphics are perfect. No lag whatsoever.

Standard grapple hook bug - seemingly not particular to the Linux version. Take care when using it on ironman, can get your character stuck under the floor.
