Resolution defaults to 1920x1080 which is too large for the Screen, but most of the screen is still visible. Resolution can be chaged to 1366 x 768, but with some difficulty.
Game starts out at a too large resolution, which can be corrected in the Options Menu. However, selecting 1366 x 768 can be a struggle since the game recognizes the Steam Deck inputs properly, but using the D-Pad to move up and down had a strange reaction causing the game to select and deselect the Resolution option. Further more, the option you need is outside the area the mouse can access. It took some "fiddling" with the D-Pad, Mouse, and A Button to be able to select the Resolution option then go to the Right to select the off screen 1366 x 768 which made the rest of the screen visible.
However, once this headache is done with, the game plays on Steam Deck as intended on PC with an X-Input Controller.
Reduced Sensitivity of Right Trackpad Consider doing the same for the right joy stick Or configuring the DPad to behave like a mouse.
A Flappy Bird-esque space shooter that can largely be ignored and forgotten. Configuring the sensitivity or other controls is needed to play the game seriously, but you may not find yourself entertained enough to bother
Created community layout Steam Deck (KB + M) to be used with Keyboard and Mouse controls. Allthough the game recognizes Controller input, the Right Joystick doesn't properly aim shots in all directions as expected. This layout alleviates this issue and enables the use of the trackpads.
Game defaults to "Windowed" resolution that is less than the Steam Deck. Changing the in game resolution to 1280 x 800 resolves this.
The game launches with an in game option to prefer Controller inputs or Keyboard/Mouse inputs if a Controller is detected. Using controller input mostly works, but the Right Joystick doesn't aim properly.
Recommend using the "Steam Deck (KB + M)" Community Layout before playing. When the game prompts for Controller or Keyboard, you can probably touch the screen or press "A" which acts as the Enter button.
Go to settings to correct resolution to 1280x800 and then proceed to play game as expected.
Changed in game controls. Controls mostly work out of the box, but rebinding is needed for a more comfortable playthrough and make sure all buttons are usable. Stages start in a top down perspective despite being a "behind the back" third person shooter, so make sure your right stick is configured properly for camera control.
Chains works out of the box with no tinkering needed. Game uses click and drag controls which is too slow on the stick and too unwieldly on the trackpad, so modification of mouse handling may work better. A true mouse would work best.
Backgrounds of stages and the main menu are probably video files which appear as test patterns
Game works well "out of the box" with no configuration needed unless you want different controls.
Background of stages and partially of the menu are ran by video files the Deck doesn't comprehend, which are replaced by "rainbow" test patterns as you would see on some TV stations in the 90s/80s. This might be fixed by a Proton update or third party variable. I've tried Proton Experimental, Glorious Eggroll, Luxtorpedia and a couple Proton variants that either had no change or prevented Chime from launching at all.
Reduced Right Joystick Mouse Sensitivity
No music. But I'm honestly not sure if it normally has music. Menus are silent, but in level gameplay has sound effects
Work as is with no Proton tinkering. Default controls partially work, but recommended to use custom or community layout.
Functional with Proton 3.16-9 and input changes, but no audio is present. Dub Dash is a rhythm game.
No Sound at all
Remapped DPad to Arrow and changed some face buttons
Works well as it, but you'd probably want to remap the DPad and face buttons to your liking.
Works perfectly as is on Steam Deck with no tinkering needed. Some Twin Stick shooting angles seem a bit harder to hit than others, but otherwise generally works well.
Switching stages has a chromating aberration blur effect. This effect was stuck on the screen after exiting the first screen in the game. Issue was fixed by simply relaunching the game.
Eventually you encounter "hallways" that appear to be fully blocked by pink walls - sometimes re-entering the room fixes this issue - sometimes, the wall will fall on top of you as you run. These appear to be some sort of trap based on time or proximity, but something just didn't seem right about their apperance and function. I'm assuming they're not showing up properly with playback on Steam Deck.
Works out of the box, but remapping face keys may be preferre
The movement speed for Fire Arrow original is too fast, so you can reduce it in the in game Options.
Game works as expected after fumbling with the launch window. Customized controls are neccessary.
Hold the STEAM button and use the track pad to manipualte the mouse in the launch window.
Some areas dipped below 30fps
Performance is sub-optimal for a graphically simplistic game
Works as intended after switching to Proton Experimental. Did not get far enough to verify Millenia Zap Bug, but no indication that has been fixed yet.
Intake works immediately on Steam Deck with no Performance issue, but game is near impossible due to input
Further Testing needed. Default controls "work" but aren't effective.
Connecting a physical mouse via Bluetooth/Usb/Dock is highly recommended - Intake was built for precise mouse controls or touch input on IOS. SD Touchscreen doesn't work well with Intake yet.
Some in game text is small, but are very crisp so are relatively easy to read.
Controls work as intended, but are a bit awkward to play effectively with Joystick as mouse. Trackpad fares a bit better.
Lag in loading menus. Steam Forum players mention that the game may 'phone home' via Internet, causing delays
Works as intended, albeit with lagged response in some moments. Ironcast requires the player to drag gems one by one with the mouse, which doesn't work perfectly with the joystick, but more acceptably with the trackpad.
Reduced Mouse Sensitivity
Works Near Perfectly as is, just that default right trackpad is too sensitive, so I recommend reducing sensitivity to something like 145%
Low amount of reports is likely due to lack of Linux/Steam Deck players owning this and limited interest, especially since there are many games in this series.
IMO, game is decent to play a few levels per sit down. Long sessions with this will become dull and repetitive.
Visually and Technically, works perfectly, but input is flawed. Use trackpad or real mouse
It is difficult to explain, but mouse input works perfectly yet imperfectly at the same time. Lucid is a match 3 puzzle game that requires click and drag motions. Mouse inputs are picked up just fine on either trackpad, joystick, or touchscreen, but the need to click and drag a relatively precise trail over blocks means you need to click and drag slowly or you trail is "canceled". An attached USB or Bluetooth mouse would likely allieviate the issue.
This is a perfect situation where my extensive library of obscure games will come in handy - No Steam Deck reports (until now) despite this game being cheap and working near perfectly on the Steam Deck.
Lucid funnily enough, only runs in three resolutions 1280x800, 1280x768, and 1280x720, the last of which also runs in Windowed. The first is 1280x800 Fullscreen, making the Steam Deck's uncommon resolution work perfectly with the games now often unused resolution.
You will need to use the Steam Keyboard to use 1-4 to select these options, or make/use a custom Control Layout that uses inputs to emulate them. From this point forward, you only need inputs to match mouse movement, left click and maybe Esc (but you can easily drag the cursor to the in game Exit button).
All mouse style inputs work out of the box, but I recommend using the trackpads or connecting a mouse. You have unlimited time to make a move, but using a real mouse woud allow you to make successive matches quicker.
Enjoyable if willing to play w/o sound. Sound is equivalent to Commander Keen or Duke Nukem 1/2
Light Tinkering - Attempted latest Proton Glorious Eggroll and Bottles
Created my own Control Layout
No Audio
Upon loading game in Desktop Mode, Steam Big picture automatically loads my custom Controller Layout for the game, which overrid my Desktop Configuration layout. I Applied an ALT-TAB key to L4 in my custom layout, but it doesn't pick up in game.
Mouse not detected, but it is a non-mouse game
As previous users reported, Muri doeesn't have any sound when played on Steam Deck. Running with ProtonGE didn't resolve issue. A reddit user recommended to try running games in Desktop mode, then going to Application settings to check if the audio is muted, however, it seems impossible to ALT+TAB out of the game or run it in windowed mode to get to those settings. If somebody can figure that out, they may be to check if the application audio is muted.
Also, when loading the game in Desktop mode, something quickly flashes on the screen mentioning "Renior Audio". I'm unsure what that means, but it could be a clue to the problem.
Numba works out of the box on Steam Deck. Platinum level if you can get accustomed to controls.
Game is built for mouse or potentially a touchscreen. SD Touchscreen doesn't work well with this game however. Trackpads recommended.
Works surprisingly well with no configurations needed. Game defaults to "Keyboard (WASD) and Mouse" which mostly works fine if you're willing to use Trackpads + Triggers to move mouse and click. Or use Joysticks + Triggers with less speed. Tile selection could potentially work better if somebody was willing to make a configuration making the mouse jump to various positions.
Steam Decks inconfigurable touchscreen doesn't work well with Numba despite it looking like a game built for touchscreen phones.
Game is a Match three and if your cursor exits a chain of selected tiles, the game will count that as an activation/confirmation and grant you the points for that chain, meaning it be can easy to accidentally "score too early" when trying to make a long chain. You will have to get used to selecting a chain of tiles, holding the right trigger while letting go of the trackpad so you can reposition your finger to reselect the remainder of a chain - Once you start selecting a scorable chain, you only have so much space to work with on the trackpads.
Near fully functional within Steam Deck without Tinkering. Audio works, but in game music does not.
Launch Window and some in game fonts are a bit small, but relatively legible
Main Menu music is available, but no music in game.
Prompts for a GameSpy Install everytime. File will likely need to be deleted to skip it, or a launch command.
Game starts in 640x480 cramped in upper left of screen. Attempting to change resolution in option crashes the game on Steam Deck. Forcing Compatibility to 5.13-6 causes it to launch fullscreen.
Game works well after forcing compatibility mode to Proton 5.13-6. Controls work surprisingly well out of the box but you may want to customize sensitivity and maybe some mappings.
Created Steam Deck Hybrid Mouse layout. Includes D-Pad, magnifier toggles, multiple mouse speeds, and buttos to "shortcut" you way to spells and commonly used in game buttons.
Magnifier can help with spell legibility. Magnifier is almost necessary for lore text, but lore text is unnecessary for the game. I recommend the Steam Deck Hybrid Mouse layout which provides magnifier options on both the left trackpad AND left Joystick.
When a cluster of Skull Gems or a +5 Skull Gem match is activated, the electrical effect used to display an attack appears corrupted/glitched. Thankfully, the effect is quick and not too obtrusive.
Native Deck resolution not used by default, but 1200 x 800 is available in the game options.
Gold at minimum, Platinum at best.
A player could install and play Puzzle Quest as is and may not notice any problems out of the box. Default resolution is just slightly incorrect, making a small portion of the sides appear cut off. PQ supports 1200 x 800 resolution. Game can be played exclusively with right trackpad as a mouse, right trigger as left click and Options as escape key by default.
Text in story sequences (and spells to a lesser extent) can be hard to read, so Toggle Magnifier alieviates this. PQ doesn't support joystick input, but mouse controls and System functions can be mapped to Steam Input. Consider the community layout "Steam Deck Hybrid Mouse" for a layout that mitigate these issues.
An annoying graphical gltich appears when matching +5 Skull Gems or many Skull Gems but otherwise PQ works perfectly.
Graphics settings reduced to lowest. Session was played on AC adapter, but settings MIGHT improve battery performance.
Forced Max frame rate to be 30
Resolution of 1280x720 is available. There is a higher resolution available in Settings Menu, but the game is cutoff. Thankfully, game was able to fill screen regardless of resolution.
Game fluctuates from 20-60 FPS
After launching with Proton Experimental, correcting the resolution, and forcing the frame rate to be lower, the game is fairly enjoyable on Steam Deck. Unlimited Frame rate results in a wildy inconsistent frame rate clearly not meant to play well with the SD, ranging from about 20-60fps.
Reducing the frame rate doesn't exactly solve the issue, but makes the dips less frequent and noticble, in comparison to unlimited FPS, as if playing classic games on period appropriate low-to-medium end hardware. RBS is a challenge roguelike Shmup, so it is recommended to play the game "more seriously" on hardware that can maintain 60fps or better.
Works mostly OOTB on Steam Deck, but game is suited to a PC with Keyboard + Mouse and a music collection to import.
Changed Left Trigger to mimic Right Mouse Button
Left Trigger didn't seem to respond without control changes. Crouching causes you to auto aim upwards, so mouse input may be better.
Pressing the "Start" key exits the tutorial completely instead of pausing. I don't know if there is a seperate pause command/key
Unfortunately, as most people have noted, the game fails to load stages on Linux systems despite everything appearing as normal in the Main Menu. I've attempted to run the game with Glorius Eggroll, Proton Experimental, Default, and version 5.13-6, none of which fixes the problem.
More tinkering may resolve the issue.
Text on Spell cards is hard to read in some cases. Magnifier (Steam + L1) can help a bit, but some text will be blurred such as spells at the trader.
Resolution can be changed to 1280 x 800 in the options. Some text can be a bit hard too read. Game never had controller support, but mouse controls could probably be remapped tot the sticks or D-Pad if you desire. Right trackpad + Right Trigger does most if not all you need in this game.
Runs without any Proton version changes needed. Custom controls are needed if expecting to play it with Controller/Steam Deck Controller - joystick isn't recognized for proper aiming. I recommend using Purple Tentacle's DF layout then customizing further from there as desired.
WINEDLLOVERRIDES='winmm.dll=n,b' %command%
Subtitles/Pickup Messages text is small. There is a mod called JKGXMOD which might fix this.
STAR WARS: Jedi Knight - Dark Forces II requres the launch command "WINEDLLOVERRIDES='winmm.dll=n,b' %command%" to cause in game music to playback properly. I tried this command in Mysteries of the Sith, but no music was present in the first stage. Music works in the initial cutscene.
Menu vertical mouse is always inverted from in game vertical Mouse and vice versa.
Works as is without tinkering. Can be launched and played with default Proton version as of writing (March 17 2023), however, there is no in game music playback. The Workaround suggested from the Dark Forces II report page didn't work for me.
WINEDLLOVERRIDES='winmm.dll=n,b' %command%
Changed L4 to Action Set that duplicates the default controls, and inverts the mouse for the Right Joystick
In game vertical mouse controls are Inverted. Mouse can not be inverted within game's options menu. Inverting the joystick will fix the issue in game, and invert the controls in menus.
Vertical mouse movement is for some reason opposite in game versus while in menu, I recommend using an unused key to Toggle an Action set that copies all the keys and inverts the mouse vertical input so you can toggle "Menu Mode" and "Game Mode" as needed as a workaround. This issue applies to both Dark Forces II and Mysteries of the Sith. This doesn't apply to Dark Forces but it may apply to the other Jedi Knight titles (untested)
Created Community Layout named "Steam Deck"
Right Stick doesn't quite aim properly. Recommend chaning the controls or using a community Layout.
Game launches and plays well with little issue. Aiming with right stick is a bit inaccurate so you may want to change the controls or use the "Steam Deck" community layout.
Otherwise works perfectly.
First time load of the game is very delayed on a black screen. Could have been seconds, but it felt like maybe 2-5 minutes. However, subsequent launches provided no issues
The initial listing of the game being "Unsupported" and the fact that the game loaded to a black screen for a few minutes supported the theory that it deserved the "Unsupported" rating. However, it eventually acted as if "it decided to go ahead and work" and I was immediately in game with the controls working as the game expects out of box.
This was my first time playing Streets of Rogue, so I had no familiarities or expections of what controls "should" feel like. The game starts with a tutorial and every action the game asked me to take worked with no problem. The game has a certain "looseness" that you may not expect from a top-down pixel art game, so I'm assuming attacking enemies is less precise than doing so on MK+B, but I don't know for sure.
I haven't completed a run yet, but I did have a lengthy run ended me in the Park stages and with level 10 and I don't get the impression that I'm missing any controls or I'm not able to do anything specific in the game because I'm playing on the Steam Deck. It appears to work as intended.
Certain in game fonts are thin/condensed, but still legible.
Steam Cloud not supported. It may be possible to transfer saves manual from device to Steam Deck. Symphony uses an online account to track leaderboard scores. To be fair, game was designed to work with your local game library, but after signing in, I don't think the game shown my previous score for Electric Love.
Works practically out of the box for Steam Deck. Developer posts on the forum mention added Controller support, but at minimum, the mouse is still needed for menus. Community/Custom Layouts will solve this problem, making Symphony a perfect game for Steam Deck if you have music accessible by the device.
Music is missing from gameplay and controls need customization, but game appears to work well on Steam Deck
Use STEAM button + Right Trackpad to control mouse in Launch Window. Right Trigger to Left Click
Menu and Movie music is fine, but no music in combat. Seems to be a common issue with RPGMaker games.
Customized controls recommended. Needed to move with analog sitcks instead of DPad, but is the kind of game that would better fit DPad
Game works out of the box on Steam Deck. Game probably looks a bit more blurry than it would on a desktop/laptop screen.
Right Joystick and Trackpad mostly works fine as mouse alternative for this Point and Click Adventure if you have no other option, but a real mouse via USB or Bluetooth would fare better for precision and making sure the mouse does exactly what you want it to do.
SMPTE color bars appears for a certain weapon, possibly No Future - I'm not sure if this intendend because I don't rember seeing this on Windows PC
Except for the slowdown that occurs with intense enemy counts, though this game even challenges High End CPUs simply due to the amount of calculations going on. Your Steam Deck's Fans will whine into full speed as it attempts to cool the overheating Deck once you get into a chaotic looking run.
Config Boot Menu appears, but after trying to start the game after click "OK", you are presented with a black screen. The Menu music plays either after some time or pressing certain buttons, but I don't hear menu sound effects when pressing buttons so it doesn't quite seem to be JUST a display issue, but i could be wrong. Both fullscreen, windowed and bit depth options had no effect.
The game technically loads, so perhaps some system updates will make it playable, but it might need developer/publisher support which I think is unlikely due to the age/scope/budget of the game.
Launch window has difficulty recognizing inputs. Clicking drop down menus might cause the cursor to be forced to a bounding box to the right of the launch menu. Text field doesn't recognize Steam Keyboard input nor emulated keyboard inputs.
Confirming previous report requiring Proton 3.16-9 on Steam Deck will make game work properly. Default controls partially work in the menu, but customized controls are needed to activate entries and actually play the game.
This post is also a thanks to previous reporter :)
