It just works.
This game runs better for me on Proton Hotfix than it ever has on Windows or Xbox, especially since the NG update catastrophe. Incredibly, not a single crash with Proton.
A typical gamer is used to running games like this on native platforms, where performance is consistent.
Whether the frequent slowdown, stutter and pausing will be slight or significant performance problems is an individual matter. Performance was slightly better with Proton experimental branch.
Launches but stalls before creating a window
Fedora 40 Plasma spin. Could be Wayland is holding it back. Changing Proton versions made no difference.
Cannot authenticate with Steam servers.

The game is enjoyable, if you can limit your sessions to 30 minutes or less. This appears to be a Steam Linux Runtime regression.
Since the Steam Client's game recording update, which included an updated Steam Linux Runtime, performance degradation occurs about 30 minutes after starting a session. Restarting the game restores performance. Forcing DX11 makes no difference.
While I'm not a fan of the Epic Store, the Epic Store version of this game does not suffer the performance issues seen with the Steam build.
