INHALE MY DONG!

Game freezes every time I shoot a gun and crashes afterwards sometimes.
Every time I shoot a gun the game freezes and sometimes crashes aswell.
I've tried it a few updates back but I just kept getting a Out of Video memory
message which is funny since I don't get that message on my Windows (dual booted with Bazzite). But now it just freezes up and crashes.
I totally forgot I was running Linux. I had too much fun and didn't notice anything wrong.
Apart for turning off Vsync to get rid of the screen tearing (which is kinda weird) it works very well.
For some reason the game had some screen tearing with Vsync on. I turned it off and then there was no visable screen tearing anymore.
No input lag, great FPS on medium to high settings (user preference). It played just as well on Linux as on my Windows system.
-dx12
This is not a Proton issue, I have the same performance issue when running on Windows 11
Sometime I got "Network Error Occured 0x00030004 Disconnected from the server" but after retrying it seems to work fine. Loading into the game take a bit longer then expected but it does work.
I ran into a "Out of video memory" error, I fixed it by passing -dx12
to the launch options.
--use-d3d11
It got stuck at a black screen until I added --use-d3d11
to the launch options. I did notice huge FPS drop when changing graphical settings but when I restarted the game it was gone. I tried restarting the game a few more times but I never saw it again. Game plays great!
Since the June 1st update I'm unable to run the game anymore. I just get a black screen. It worked fine before this date.
--use-d3d11
--use-d3d11
I did get a black screen on boot. People said changing "the config" so it doesn't start in fullscreen should work. Would be great if those same people point where the file is located (especially on Linux).
So let me tell you what I had to change to make it work. This "config" file is located at <steam_library_directory>/steamapps/compatdata/553850/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/AppData/Roaming/Arrowhead/Helldivers2/user_settings.conf
.
I changed the following: fullscreen = false
(maximized_window = false
was already on false but mentioning here anyway).
Then along with the startup flag the game actually boots through.
Works as well as if was native
All my other applications do slow down when the game is open but the game itself runs on a steady and smooth FPS.
I couldn't change my loadout and since that is pretty important in this game I didn't try further.
When editing my loadout I went from all the frames to 5 frames a second. Can't edit my loadout. (This is NOT an issue on Windows on the same system)
If you don't care about your loadout you might have a fun time.
Works as well on Linux as on Windows. No issue found.
I have a ultra wide monitor but everything got stretched out instead of scaled. Still playable but annoying.
Works just as well on Linux as on Windows
