DXVK_ASYNC=1 DXVK_FRAME_RATE=90 %command%
The campaign is a stutter-fest. Zombies though, they worked fine with any problems
Aside from stuttering, the campaign crashes very frequently
gamemoderun RADV_PERFTEST=gpl %command%
The audio in one of the cutscenes was broken. Only happened once.
Out of the box there is too much stuttering. Adding "RADV_PERFTEST=gpl" makes it way more tolerable, though it doesn't completely fix it. It's most noticable at the start of a mission when the level is still loading.
Smooth as butter. I was shocked when I realized it isn't a native game
The only issue I had was one big frame drop in the prologue, not long after putting on the suit, but it was gone after a few seconds and it never happened again.
Aside from a problem with the language and some weird behaviour when minimizing, it works perfectly
A weird issue where if you minimize the application it doesn't really get minimized, but changes to window mode and moves to the bottom right side of the screen.
Language is forced to English even when my system is in Spanish. I tried to run the game under Proton to see if this was an issue with the Linux version but unfortunely it never gets to boot up under Proton. Though I've seen many forum posts around asking for this issue with languages and even non-official patches, so I guess this is a problem over Windows too.
WINE_CPU_TOPOLOGY=8 WINEDEBUG=-all %command% -USEALLAVAILABLECORES --use-d3d11 -force-vulkan
Out of the box you may encounter some ugly stutters here and there, but it's fixed by using WINE_CPU_TOPOLOGY as many reports already stated.
Helldivers 2 is a bad optimized game in general, so I won't take into account low frame rate issues. As far as it goes, the game runs as well as on Windows, or even better since I noticed that the stuttering in here is almost non-existant.
Other reports say you can switch back to your preferable Proton after the first boot. Didn't work for me.
When running natively the mapping on my Xbox Series controller gets scrambled (e.g. pause was mapped to RB). Running the game under Proton is a workaround.
Works fine. It has some problems but it looks like they are not exclusive to Linux
When playing with mouse the camera has a bit of stuttering
-novid -vulkan
Remember to add "-vulkan" to your launch options to use Vulkan.
Mouse cursor is always on screen even when playing with a controller. This also happens on Windows, but you can fix it with mods.
Vibration goes crazy and it never stops unless you deactivate it
-novid -no_texture_stream
Even with the little quirks, it's an overall better experience than on Windows. Better performance and (in my experience) visual clarity.
-novid -no_texture_stream
Added an autoexec.cfg and other custom cfg files. Nothing different from Windows
When unreving the Tomislav you can hear a "screeching" sound. It's not loud and you will only notice it when there isn't much action going on, but it can get annoying after a while.
Also I've played a few matches where some sound effects decide not to play at random times (hitsounds, killsounds, the music in some taunts, killcams, etc).
As for July 29th 2025, the font file containing the CJK characters for the UI is missing from the game files (despite the license.txt for it existing). Even if you are playing in English, this will cause problems down the road (for example, custom weapon names written in Japanese appearing as blank).
The way I fixed this is installing Source SDK Base 2013 Multiplayer from Steam, going to '[route to your SDK installation folder]/platform/resource/linux_fonts/' and copying 'notosanscjk-regular.ttc' into '[route to your TF2 installation folder]/platform/resource/linux_fonts/'. You can safely uninstall the SDK after finnishing.
There are other characters that your client can't render, usually Microsoft propietary fonts. But there isn't much we can do about this. Fortunely, unlike CJK, you will come across these characters very rarely (for example, quirky names with ASCII art in the scoreboard), so they will be far from an annoyance.
About mods:
Most of them are made with only the Windows version in mind, so there are some that may not work or even crash your game (in my experience, the later happened with this one mod: https://gamebanana.com/mods/325900. If you are going crazy because your game keeps crashing and you don't know why, this may be the cause, or other mods). Also remember that Linux file systems are case sensitive, so if you have mods in your 'tf/custom' directory installed as "folder mods" make sure those folders' names are in lowercase (remove any space too, just in case), otherwise the game won't load them. VPK files are fine, though.
OPENSSL_ia32cap=~0x20000000 %command% -noborder
Switching tabs could sometimes make the game's window go black. Adding the -noborder parameter fixed it
Got some ugly stuttering during the first few minutes of gameplay, but it could have been shaders still compiling
Make sure to have your controller connected before launching the game. Otherwise, it won't detect it and you will need to re-launch. (I was using an Xbox Series controller)
