Works perfectly on initial install. Game acts as if it's native
I've been playing for around 5 hours now, and I haven't noticed anything out of the ordinary so far. No slowdowns, audio issues or stability problems. You could tell me this was a native title and I'd believe it.
Seems to work perfectly so far 25 hours in
Beginning level at the reactor has missing textures for one room only, and they're restored after going through the dialogue to name the main character
Game comes with it's own launcher that imposes it's own control layout, doesn't detect controller at the launcher level so binds cannot be edited but they can once in-game to a small degree
With one incredibly small hiccup (beginning reactor for one room), I've experienced no gameplay issues or troubles running the game. Getting a PS4 controller working was a headache though, I found the best luck using the game's imposed layout in menu (which defaulted to keyboard) and binding the individual keys to the controller on Steam, which got movement via D-Pad working (movement is locked to analog stick by default). Also, viewing achievements or the web profile of your SE account via the game launcher seems to not work whatsoever.
I've distrohopped three times now in the middle of playing this: Arch -> Mint -> Debian Stable. In all 3 the game works perfectly, arguably native, but suffers from random hard crashing to desktop and indefinite hanging if Esync is not disabled in the launch options with "PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 %command%" minus the quotation marks. Over the course of more than 70 hours across 3 distros, no significant nor even minor issues whatsoever
Perfect out-of-the-box experience. Just install and play
Beat the game on Student difficulty making sure I do every single stage available on the map. I sort of expected an issue where click latency would be a problem but surprisingly I found nothing of the sort. The game practically acts as if it's native.
Just like with the first game- simply install and begin playing for a practically native experience
(Updated) Just like with the first game- simply install and begin playing for a practically native experience
Managed to beat the game with no problems whatsoever, however there is an incredibly rare instance where closing the game while full screen indefinitely hangs and traps the mouse. I had to Alt+Tab and Alt+F4 the Steam client itself in order to get it to close.
Used to work perfectly but something broke it
Will crash randomly anywhere from 5 to 45 minutes after selecting a save and playing in a world.
Most recent update in late May/early June introduced random crashing that makes the game unplayable. Can't find any other reports online of this. Changed from the RPM Steam install on Fedora to a Flatpak install in order to test a stabler Steam runtime but it seems to have not helped. Just have to pray for a fix I guess.
Installed to a USB flash drive formatted in EXT4. It's the only way to get any audio in-game whatsoever. External HDDs and alternate drives work too, it just can't be installed on the same drive as the OS.
Doesn't work at all if installed on the same drive as the OS. Works perfectly when installed in a separate library, even a flash drive.
I'm only around 3 hours in and with 1 slight exception, everything has worked perfectly so far. No graphical issues or framerate issues, although the game will freeze up when attempting to switch between full-screen and windowed for a good 15 seconds or more.
No music, just the sound effects and the sheer empty void of nothingness
All music is missing from the game, sound effects still work though
I tried various launch options reported from other games with similar issues of no music but had no luck. Technically you can play the whole game start to finish but the lack of music really hurts the ambiance. Just put on some music in the background I guess if you really want to.
Works out of the box
Installed and managed to boot up pretty fast with Vulkan shaders all things considering. It carried over my save data from Windows successfully and everything seemed normal. Played a few matches online including via crossplay and had no issues whatsoever. Acts native
Works great but the intro movie that's supposed to play everytime on boot doesn't play, which is fine
If anything it actually helps out because now the game goes directly to the title screen after the Marvel and Capcom logos, saving you a few seconds. Game plays as expected. Online is dead however, with barely anyone on. It doesn't really matter though because it's MAHVEL baby. Start working on those combos while you can before MvC4 in 2025 or whenever.
