WARNING: Latest WINE package (7.16-1) prevents this game from launching as of 9/2/22. SOLUTION: Downgrade to 7.16-1
GE-Proton7-31 (latest) is crashing the game while loading into Zombies but has increased game stability. Recommend GE-Proton7-20.
The game is held together with duct-tape, the forest cutscene that plays when you select a map causes the game to lag a bit, but the same issue was experienced natively on Win10.
Use GE-Proton7-20 to get an all round experience. current WINE version also prevents the game from launching (Wine 7.16-2) SOLUTION: downgrade to Wine 7.16-1
Besides hackers, obviously.
Split Screen works fine
Decent.
Cursor disappears when opening weapon crates.
Broken
gamemoderun %command%
small 2gb update broke it completely.
Your game will have cheaters regardless of what platform(s) you support...
backwards, paranoid development team.
Just got it today, spent an hour mass-spawning Putin's and blowing them up with grenades to farm points.
Base game unplayable. 3rd party scripts broken
GModCEFCodecFix-Linux
Steam Error. No Steam User on launch, X86_64 + chromium CodecFix script yields the following error(s): "Error: Could not detect GMod EXE Launch Options!" and "hl2.sh [Errno 2] No such file or directory"
Game played flawlessly until the Health Update, which added "hardening" to the EAC runtime for the game. Now unplayable as of 10/10/22
EAC now fails to enable/validate, leaving you stuck on the splash screen.
team17 rolled out Denuvo support today, killing Linux and Steam Deck support dead (and possibly forever)
aight then.
Tried Experimental, GE, Hotfix, and 9-1. They broke it again
So close yet so far, this game will be perpetually unplayable
game can be slow for a few minutes after startup, may need to explore launch options.
Main Menu has a bug where a white texture will flash rapidly, very distracting but only occurs briefly
Microstuttering 90% of the time, 10% of the time it will run great - identical to native with super smooth gameplay (possibly a driver related issue)
It's very close to perfect (on my machine) but not quite there yet.
Early Access, 7/10 gameplay
Infrequent stuttering, known issue and not specific to Linux.
get used to seeing "HOST IS NOT RESPONDING"
Played a few typical arena matches and had zero issues, runs practically identical to windows 10.
Small bug, on the tutorial level, I suffered frame drops but it was completable. This issue might only manifiest on first initial run of the game
