As of Proton 4.11-5 this is now generally playable if you use a controller. Mouse still doesn't work properly (jumps to the top left corner of the screen). Tutorial videos in the beginning tutorial needs codecs from Windows Media Foundation to work. Biggest issue however is that after something like 30m of play the game drops to something like 15-20fps, you can get past this by restarting the game however and it will run again for 30-ish minutes.
Works perfectly after the symlink tweak mentioned elsewhere here.
Weird mouse acceleration but that might just be the game. I am not able to verify on a windows machine.
Despite the fps-issues it is still one of the best games ever made.
Severe slowdowns in certain areas such as the Kelp Forest and other more spoilery places that I won't mention by name. Got a little bit better when i turned off GSync but I still had to run everything on minimum to get by and I still dropped down to 15-ish fps at times.
