Works fine, can crash on startup or after a few minutes but that luckly just rarely and without side effects
The game can crash when starting it or after a few minutes of playtime, but those crashes haven been kinda rare for me (2-3 per week at worse)
Just as buggy as on Windows ;-)
Shift, CTRL and ALT Keys can get stuck but that can easily be resolved by simply pressing the keys again after refocusing on the game
It only detects the controller when already plugged in before the game started and in case it disconnects, it doesn't reconnect
It's GTA ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. But luckily nothing Linux specific
Runs fine for an early access game with some minor hickups on my system.
When switching between virtuel desktops it caused the game to completely lock up after the last updates (borderless fullscreen was introduced). Playing in windowed mode helps to stop it from happening.
When switching virtuel desktops the mouse can get "lost". Pressing middle mouse button or Alt in my case fixes that and the mouse is back.
Once you replace the ucrtbase.dll file it just runs. Even if the game wouldn't run before.
replacing the ucrtbase.dll (see: https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/issues/1538#issuecomment-529896867)
If you minimize the game in fullscreen mode you only get a black window and you can't get back into the game. Use borderless to avoid this.
If you don't mess up your crossings and switches the trains run just as well as the game
It's been some time since I played it in VR, but from what I remember that worked fine as well. No guaranties though.
Works! Now be a good FICSIT Inc. drone and exploit the planet
Mouse sometimes got "eaten" by the game, most of the time resolved by switching between/refocusing the game window or in case the game crashed by killing the process
If the game isn't focused on start up it can just hang up. A bit random when it happens but even if you try to force it it only happens 1/10 times so not a big deal. Simply kill the process and start again, having the game on an SSD or just simply waiting and keeping the game focused until you see the menu helps to minimize the chance of the bug occurring.
Ran just fine, encountered the normal bugs that were/are in the game. Nothing specific to Linux
Crashes a second after "LOADING.." text appears on the bottom right
Tried various proton version, non of which worked and crashed at the exact same point
Works without any problems
Tried the game about 2 years ago. Didn't had any luck back then. Fast forward to now and it works without any issues. What changed on my end during those 2 years was:
- New Proton Version (besides the game just being updated the likely main reason it now works)
- Switched from Manjaro to Arch
- Switched DE from Mate/X11 to KDE/Wayland
- New GPU (back then RX 580, now RX 7800 XT)
As long as you don't mind to not install any mods that require SKSE, you will have fun. Runs with 60 fps on all max/ultra.
Fixable with start option: WINEDLLOVERRIDES="xaudio2_7=n,b" PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC=90 %command%
After minimizing the game it froze. Playing in borderless fixes this.
