The game tends to minimize this with alt+tab
Runs perfectly
Didn't start in fullscreen. After you press a button you get the fullscreen

Proton experimental & proton-ge doesnt work with the game wine staging 9.21 does tho
WINE_CPU_TOPOLOGY=2:0,1 %command%
On higher core count CPUs, the game will eventually fail to load assets and crash after a few hours of gameplay. Using Proton 9 and its environment variable WINE_CPU_TOPOLOGY=2:0,1
to limit the game to 2 CPUs seems to fix it.
Game works perfectly

Works completely as expected out of the box.
Not much to say here, as this one doesn't require a whole lot to run. There's not a whole lot of graphical options either. If you want to cap the framerate, use DXVK_FRAME_RATE
, the mangohud
frame limiter, libstrangle
, or the gamescope
frame limiter. The choice is yours, all of those seemed to work just fine.

The disappearing sprites & crash is annoying, but infrequent enough to not ruin the game for me.
gamescope -H 1440 -h 1440 -W 2560 -w 2560 --adaptive-sync -e %command%
Occasionally character sprites disappear, seems to happen after playing for some time (>1h)
Fullscreen only works with gamescope
After a character sprite dissappears, opening the menu causes a crash. Has never crashed under other circumstances.

PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
Sometimes the music crackles, though it doesn't always happen and I don't consider it a deal breaker
Because my IGPU (Intel Iris 5100-Haswell) has incomplete vulkan support, I had to lauch with "PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%", but overall I had a blast playing this game on linux.

gamemoderun %command%
using Proton Experimental. enabled vsync on game settings. game screen does not shake when panning the scene.

gamescope -h1440 -H1440 -b -r144 --framerate-limit 144 -- %command%
When not using Gamescope, game would sometimes silently fail. When this would happen, character portraits would disappear and opening the Options menu whould close the game. Running in Gamescope with fixed refresh/framerate fixed the issue.
During one session, the game didn't act when the lower half of the screen was clicked. Restarting the game fixed it.
Slight choppiness when screen is "panning" (courtroom scenes, 2-screen investigation rooms). Fixed (or at least less noticeable) by capping framerate to refresh rate using Gamescope.

Works well with very little issues.
when playing on my laptop on the side, it was a little demanding to run.
I've had one or two crashes. They are very rare.
There was a moment where the characters stopped speaking after reloading a save and the game softlocked.

One of those instances will happen depending on the renderer used in Proton:
On DXVK (default), sprites will be missing and fix itself. Happens when playing for too long. Once you experience that, expect the game to crash once you try to go to Options or reach the checkpoint for saving the game.
With WineD3D, major graphical artifacts will appear and break the game entirely.
It is possible that it may happen when switching between windows (With Alt+TAB) too much in full screen.
The best way to play this game is to use Gamescope to avoid any issues, despite not owning the Steam Deck I think it will run just fine on it.

flawless experience with Xbox One Controller
works flawless
Runs perfectly, no problems here!
Works, but wished this was a better port job.
This is a hold over from Windows, but the full screen takes a bit to load and it's hard to tell if it's working until the game start/restarts. I blame Capcom and Windows for this, not Proton/wine
Any issues you find here are going to be the same on Linux as it is on Windows. Probably going back to the 3DS or CITRA to play these games.

Perfect!
Plays like native, encountered no issues.
Works great out of the box. No tinkering required.
if you want to install the spanish community patch... you NEED access to windows, there is no way around that sadly
i had one crash, but i think it was due to the translation patch i'm using, not sure
Except for some rare crashes, everything just works
The game seems to crash randomly after a very long period of gameplay.
Simply installed and played straight from Steam

Works out of the box.
Sometimes crashes without warning so frequent saving is recommended.
Minor problems when relaunching the game. After the loading screen, the game appeared correctly.

PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
Game runs flawlessly within Steam (Proton 7.0 and Proton Experimental)
PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
Beyond having to add a simple launch option (PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%), the game runs flawlessly.

Everything works fine but the "Press Enter" initial window.
The initial screen "Press Enter" will always be windowed even if you set full screen. After that screen, everything works fine. Under Proton 6.3-8.
Runs absolutely Perfect using latest Proton Release at this time.

6.21-GE-2 GloriousEggroll
GloriousEggroll; LANG=ja_JP.utf8
If it crashes on startup and steam says it can't create directory, generate a Japanese localization (locale-gen) and run the game with it. I used "ja_JP.utf8"
Wouldn't launch
In the 16 hours I have in this game i had no issues at all.
Runs out of the box, played for 90h+ with very minimal problems which could be unrelated to Proton.
Crashed like 3 times in 90h of play time; may be Proton-unrelated
