Crashed Every 1-2 hours even with customizations, however it was always before certain events or cutscenes, where a checkpoint would save right before the crash, so it wasn't a big deal most of the time.
Look at the many posts below this one for better details.
Runs amazing right out of the box. A lot better than Asylum.
The game would not appear on my task bar. I had to minimize the window above it when I alt-tabed out.
Performance drops were very rare, but I did encounter a few when sharing the game through discord, but besides that very smooth game.
Some are saying it crashes semi frequently like in Asylum, for me I only got one crash near the end of the game, after playing for a long session.
Runs Great out of the box if you give it an hour or 2 to run.
Started getting crashes after finishing the main story of the game. But the game saves so often that it's not a big issue.
Has a strange issue that makes it stutter and lag constantly for about 2 hours when first playing. Lag and stutter Will clear up and it runs smooth as butter, well based on your hardware of course.
Used Proton Tricks to Simplify the Drive:D fix, as shown below
MeDiCastrO made a good explanation and instructions of how to get the game running. I just simplified it slightly using protontricks. First in your terminal type in "protontricks --gui" (without quotes). Then when the game selection opens, choose Bayonetta. Click on "Select the default wineprefix", then "Run winecfg". After that you can follow the rest of the guide MeDiCastrO made.
Somehow this runs better on Linux than Windows for me out of the box.
Mostly everything works, how some cutscene sounds in campain are delayed, and some minor sounds in zombies don't work. Unsure of a solution.
Alternative solution is to play the game in a separate work space.
Installed faudio, xact, and xact64
Mouse inputs felt a little laggy at times, but mostly negligible for me, Controller worked flawlessly though.
If I am being honest I haven't tried the game without the tweaks. For all I know the game may just work with newer proton versions without tweaks. But reports here from awhile ago say to use them.
Current Nvidia Drivers cause ground to not display, rendering the game almost unplayable. AMD users should be fine though.
If you have an Nvidia Card, hopefully you haven't installed version 460 of the driver yet. Otherwise the ground texture will just be missing.
I had an issue where I couldn't link the game to my Ubisoft account, and I see others have as well. Here's the solution that worked for me.
Unlink your steam account from your Ubisoft account. (if you had it linked before and the issue is occurring)
Completely Close Uplay/Ubisoft Connect and log out of steam.
Sign back into Steam
Launch Far Cry 5 from steam via Proton Experimental
Login to your Ubisoft account and it should just popup with a button to add game.
If all goes well make sure to change the proton version back to what ever works.
You might have to nuke(delete) the wine prefix before trying this.
(as of writing this a new glorious eggrole version just released that might fix the texture issue in the game)
It worked fine using Glorious Eggroll, just make sure you have the hardware for this game.
Trying this with the Newest Glorious Eggroll Proton, it worked perfectly without any tinkering.
LEGO City Undercover works about as well as it does on Windows.
The game already does not run well on my computer, but I assume the performance drops (Mostly minor stuttering) on Manjaro Linux was because of Vulkan Shaders being processed.
I would like to mention that this game crashes a lot running normally on Windows 10.
This game can crash a lot no matter your OS or Hardware. With my experience, this game with Proton seemed to crash just a little more often, but I've seen worse on windows with better hardware than mine.
I was not able to perform the instructions others have done by moving files, due to not having to folders to do so. I was able to get around this issue by installing Media Foundation using this: https://github.com/z0z0z/mf-install (I tried using Glorious Eggroll first and had no luck, it may work for you)
Their was one issue that I found, and I can't tell if it's proton or an actual server issue. This game as online elements besides MGO, such as online inventories. While playing the game might disconnect you from the servers, causing you to loose access to your online inventory. Thankfully in my experience it was very easy to reconnect in the pause menu.
As long as you aren't afraid of tinkering a bit, and downloading a Crack, you can play this fine.
The game Doesn't run at all unless you use a Crack for it. Look Up SKIDROW NoDVD Crack, that worked for me. You only need to copy and overwrite the prototype2engine.dll file.
I haven't tried the game without this launch option: WINEDLLOVERRIDES="xaudio2_3=b" %command% But without it I've seen that the audio just fails entirely.
Only happened once during play and it only happened for a brief second. A giant shadow appeared for a moment. Could be a base game glitch I've never encountered.
Alt-Tabbing out had no issues, getting back in didn't work very well. Screen was stretched and cut off trying to click back in. This may have been caused because I was running the game at a smaller than my Native resolution.
Mainly some stuttering. Most likely from Shaders.
Using the newest Glorious Eggroll Proton Version, Issues with Media Foundation and CEG are finally fixed.
If the game is muted, then you won't have any issues.
I'm yet to find a proper fix to the crackling audio.
It works great, just try not to do anything while it's launching.
Looking for a fix to audio crackling.
Sometimes when launching the game in the background and your doing something else, the game will just lock up your computer, at least it does on mine.
For some reason it take a lot longer to launch on Linux via Proton than it does on Windows. Causes me to do other things while waiting, and then the crashing will happen.
Runs absolutely Perfect using latest Proton Release at this time.
If you save often you can deal with the occasional Crashing. Overall Great experience for me though.
Had an issue where faces of characters would have odd black dots that would scatter on them. Seems to have been fixed for me though.
If controller gets disconnected, the game will temporarily freeze. When it resumes sometimes the controller still wont be detected, sometimes it would fix after a minute, or I have to replug anyways.
Game suffers with the ERR_GFX_STATE error that is better explained in reviews below. Strangely, I don't crash nearly as much as others seem to be. I can play for almost 3 hours without a crash and just close the game normally. But once in awhile the game can crash after about an hour.
At the moment it seems that in order to play online you need to use the most recent version of Valve Proton. Glorious Eggroll will not work.
Runs Great out of the Box. Proton Experimental Fixes in game chat so you can now use a Mic.
By itself, it doesn't function correctly, at least not for me. See below how to get it working for real.
Don't use the steam Version. Download the 7z archive from the SKSE website and copy over the files inside it to your skyrim install. Make sure you have Proton Fixes installed too. On steam, Launch Skyrim with Proton (I am using the Glorious Egg role Version of 5.0.9), and it should ask you if you want to load Skyrim with SKSE, Click Yes. It may take a few attempts but it'll eventually Load SKSE Consistently.
Works extremely well.
Please Note that with Modding this game on Linux your Mileage my vary. I've mainly tried to install a UI mod called Darnified, and it does not work properly under proton.
Actually runs a little bit faster using Proton than with Windows, given my hardware.
This game works pretty well.
I could go into fullscreen, but it caused severe Frame drops and had issues getting out of Fullscreen.
Sometimes loading in when not on the window causes the keyboard not to be recognized at first. Clicking out then back in fixes it.
Performance issues weren't too noticeable, for what I played, only maybe by 3 fps drops at max given my bad laptop.
