Works good
Played with Proton 9.0-4.

Download and play
I played for around 70 hours, and the game only crashed once right after finishing a mission. Other than that, zero issues. I played it all the way through with no problems, and Alt + Tab worked every single time without a hitch.

i tried to play it with different versions of Proton, including experimental, but the game freezed at a black screen always, tried to play it with Proton GE 8-3, still didnt work, but i changed to Proton GE 9-27, and the game worked, alt tabbing works and it is playable.

Great experience

Works great.
Consider using downloadable patches 100-percent-completion, World-Location-Settings, and Bullseye-Rifle-Fix, to address very marginal issues.

Loaded in my old save just fine.
Game crashed upon exiting. Doesn't seem to be alt-tab friendly either.
No crashes or any artifacts I've noticed upon entering the game. Aside from closing it, which given I wanted to close it, doesn't make a difference.

Fails to load at all

Was unable to boot the game even after trying GE, protontricks fixes listed, and moving to my home folder
steam version dodsn't launch. Had tp install the gog version and run the exe from a bottle. which dixnt work for the steam exe.

Tried everything i could find here and elsewhere but i think the steam version was broken in a patch.

The game doesn't launch

Tried Protontricks and Experimental Proton... no luck, just refuses to start

Seems to be working on AMD Mesa, but not Intel Mesa currently
The game works out of the box now, just enable the Proton Experimental and you are good to go.

Has been working since the last few months of GE releases, works fine with the latest Oct 24 release of Proton Experimental.
Require Proton Experimental for the moment (Oct 24), should be fine by next release.

Got a black screen on launch until I added the launch options. Then it fired right up and worked great.

A little tweaking, sure. But at least it's not Ubisoft!

I get A glitchy, black window without Proton: GE and protontricks. I keep the fps capped as old games are known to have problems above 60 fps.

Without the tinkering steps it wouldn't launch at all. With protontricks alone it launched with a black screen. Not all of the steps/parameters might be necessary, but this is what ended up working for me.

Did not work with the default Proton or with later versions of GE-Proton, but with GE-Proton 8.3 it works perfectly.

d3dcompiler_47 installed via Protontricks.
d3dcompiler_47 via Proton Tricks or GE-Proton seems to be required to get it to launch but runs great once it's been done. Solid 60 FPS high settings
The launch options were the trick for me. I'd tried ProtonTricks and various versions of Proton with no luck before finding those.

Game takes 3 or 4 minutes to open, otherwise it seems to work fine once it decides to run.
Use proton GE to get this game to function properly and be patient for it when it opens.
Black screen on launch using standard Proton (recommended and experimental)
Using the default Proton version installed with Steam resulted in a blank screen when launching. Installed GE-Proton9-5 and worked fine

Launch first using GE-Proton9-2
Stuck at intro screen without GE-Proton

protontricks 8190 d3dx10 d3dcompiler_43 d3dcompiler_47, then verify game integrity for it to not crash after this
fps is dead on 144 without any slowdown, didnt see the invisible people bug that happens above 60 fps for now

did everything i saw others do, not sure if i did protontricks stuff wrong but it still doesnt work
protontricks 8190 d3dx10 d3dcompiler_43 d3dcompiler_47, still crashes after i did this, not sure why
takes like 10 years to launch and flashes a black screen for a split second

I did the initial install on 8.0-4, then went to a default steam config and it worked fine.

At first with Proton 8.0-4 it does not work, black screen error, for it to work correctly the first time I had to start it with GE-Pronton8-25, this way the screen does not go black when starting but it slows down during explosions or when destroying elements in the environment.
Once previously started with GE, you can then put it with Proton 8.0-4 and it works perfectly without the physical slowdowns.

As of the moment of this post, the game was stuck on "Launching, Updating Executable" in Steam.
Used protontricks-git 1.10.5.r15.g96f253d-1
from the AUR; Ran the popular recommendation protontricks 8190 DLLs d3dx10 d3dcompiler_43 d3dcompiler_47
to no avail.

protontricks 8190 DLLs d3dx10 d3dcompiler_43 d3dcompiler_47
I did a fresh install on Opensuse and i want it to test Just cause 2 to see if works... still no, you need the Protontricks DLLs to make it work again, it sucks but at least the game works perfect with this, no problems so far and really smooth.

Installed DX10 libraries using "protontricks 8190 dlls d3dx10 d3dcompiler_43 d3dcompiler_47". Only the flathub version of protontricks worked for me, the one from the apt repo was too old.

I added the d3dcompiler_47 via Protontricks, had no issues so far.
TDP set to 10
If you follow the steps of the other fella in this thread, you'll be fine. Just don't expect it to work right out of the box.

Plays perfectly with d3dcompiler_47 installed via Protontricks. Does not run without it (black screen at launch).
Installed d3dcompiler_47
45 FPS cap
Protontricks instructions, for new users:
- In desktop mode, search for and install Protontricks from the Discover store, then launch it.
- Select Just Cause 2 from the app list > OK
- "Select the default wineprefix" > OK
- "Install a Windows DLL or component" > OK
- Tick the checkbox next to d3dcompiler_47 > OK
- When the next screen appears, you are finished. Click the 'X' in the upper-right corner to close Protontricks, then return to gaming mode to play.

No launch Options Required
installed d3dcompiler_47 d3dcompiler_43 and d3dx10

Very stable with GE Proton and once I set the right options

Standard winetricks settings in PortProton
To launch, I chose DXVK 2.3-5 and VKD3D 1.1-3622, the PREFIX - DEFAULT
