


Mega Man 8 cutscenes do not play when using Steam Proton. Switching to GE-Proton9-9 makes them play correctly.

Game runs out of the box, but Cutscenes in 8 won't play, so one can't understand the story.

Yor need to use ProtonUp-qt to install and use older Proton-GE version 6.21-GE-2. Mega Man 8's cutscenes will play with it.
Using default proton makes it so Cutscenes in Mega Man 8 don't play. Proton 6 based versions fix this.
This is only for Mega Man 8. The opening cutscene will work if you downgrade. Played the rest of the game and noticed the cutscenes wouldn't work and brings up a static error screen (assuming you're on 6.3-8) Otherwise every other Proton I used would just skip all the cutscenes.
Mega Man 7 was perfect and the challenges have been perfect. Not tested 9 or 10 yet.

I tried different versions of proton, but couldnt find one that would display MM8's cutscene fine. 6.3.8 didnt work for me, only showed test patterns instead of the videos.
The games work well when using Proton 6.3-8 and FMVs work properly. Using newer Proton builds break FMVs but the games still work well.
FMVs do not load in/play at all when using the default Proton build.
This report was made playing a couple stages through each game and testing/troubleshooting FMVs in Mega Man 8.

The game works flawlessly with Proton GE, including the cutscenes in MM8. Had no issues playing through every game in the collection.
The games in the collection works ootb, except megaman 8's cutscenes, which is replaced with a standby screen, but can be skipped.

No FMVs in normal Proton; I didn't manage to make the game run with newer versions of Proton GE, but it's not the problem with the game itself because other games also don't launch with 6.4-GE and 6.5-GE either for some reason.
The initial installation is required to make the game launch. If you deleted the contents of the Steamworks Shared folder, just verify integrity of game's files and it will download what it needs.

Still doesn't launch at all with Proton 6.3-2.
I also tried 6.5-GE-2, same result.
Works out of the box with the proton 6.3, which comes with DXVK 1.8.1.
Out of the box. I could start even on Wayland session. I was able to select my Discrete Graphics Card (GTX 1060).

Now displays correctly on Proton 6.3. All games seem playable, but MM8 FMVs appear as test patterns.
Mega Man 8 FMVs do not work.
I am testing Fedora 34 Beta. I can load Wayland session or Xorg Classic session. This game doesn't work on Wayland session. No issues.

Modifications:
Replaced the DXVK version of this GE build to 1.8.1 (Can easily be done by going to the extracted Proton Build folder and replace the dll files in dist/lib/wine/dxvk/ and dist/lib64/wine/dxvk from what is in 1.8.1 in the dxvk release github page)
There are some audio cuts here and there in the game cinematics. Only one game is affected base on the test and that is Megaman 8.
None of my controllers are detected. Tried Xinput and Direct Input. Devices used: Logitech F310, 8bitdo SF30 and Xbox 360 Controller
It doesn't matter which proton version you use (But I recommend overriding the G.E builds that way it plays the cinematic videos in Megaman 8) as long as you override/replace the DXVK versions from that bundle to the latest one Version 1.8.1
For gamepad issues, you can use AntiMicroX to map your gamepad. Although the only downside using this is on menu, the buttons will use your keyboard buttons instead of gamepad buttons but that's ok!

FINALLY this game is fixed! I am happy to report that I ran all of the games with no slanted backwards upside down screen :)
In the classic cheesy cut-scenes there seemed to be a few seconds here or there of dropped audio. Not too shabby
The Custom Proton version I used was proton_tkg_6.2.r0.g3b5ea332.
I tested all of the games and all of the saves. PS5 controller works well. Everything is running Golden. Thanks for the new DXVK version! :)

I used to have the diagonal glitch screen problem when I was on my previous GPU. Now the game doesn't do even that, just a silent black screen for a few seconds and then a crash.
The game installs fine but is still borked with an upside down diagonal screen.. Strange that Collection 1 works so well...

Via Proton 5.0.1, it still runs on the same issues. Distorted menu and can't play the megaman games.
The game starts but the menu screen is distorted and once you play any game, it goes black screen. Basically its unplayable.
Still no improvement in latest proton version.

Same diagonal error as before. Mega Man 9/10 at least now start, but 8/9/10 don't show any video in the black gameplay window you see. Sound works perfectly now.
