It's just not enjoyable given the terrible performance, even at the lowest possible settings. Looks horrible, runs horrible.
Having to change to native from default proton prevents cloud sync with windows PC
Game regularly drops to single digit fps anywhere but in empty space. Should not be verified.
Still crashes despite supposed fix.
This game has destroyed my faith in the verification system. People say it's not there for performance however there's a big green tick next to "This games default settings perform well on the steam deck." Go figure

Changes left trackpad behaviour
On big battles, slow downs (around 20FPS)
At the moment of writing this I played the game for around 60h. It plays nice. Not perfect and with some FPS downs to 20. But most time works around 30FPS.
The crashes of my previous report were fixed today in a Hotfix, right now there is no big problems with the game.
But, bear in mind, you MUST select the Linux version in the compatibility option in Steam, Default is Proton and the performance is not good there. Native version works fine.

Both trackpads with radial menus
Opening maps dips to 20fps, some huge dips to 5 fps, previous a crash that blocks the SD and you need to restart the device
In the Sandbox game, every two-three hours there is a crash while travelling through the map.
Playing with Foundations DLC and 7.0/7.10.
In Steam Deck, force compatibility to the native installation. FSR on performance and everything on low. That is playable, but crashes often. For me is kinda ok, but is far from be a pleasant experience. Still, is playable and I will continue doing so.
I finish Timelines DLC without much problem, but Sandbox Mode is more problematic for performance.

- Disable Anti/Alias
- Graphic preset - Low
- Set Cockpit reflections to 0
Definitely not Steam Deck Verified

Pretty much all text is awful
Most controls are not native to the deck
Performance is to poor to be enjoyable, conveniantly the lengthy tutorials are good enough to get you past refund window.
Despite being deck verified the only part of the game that ran above 25fps on default settings was the 2 hour tutorial... Once commencing the actual game the performance was between 10-20 fps when around any stations, fleets, gates or anything else really, only in open space with no other objects around could it get above 30. Disabling SMT helped however I still would not consider this playable as most of the time the game was still in the low 20's.
Tried several step to improve performance including switching to the native linux version (defaults to Proton), decreasing traffic density and dropping setting to lowest. Honestly don't know how this received verified status.
Despite this the game itself is great, just not on steam deck.
The new version 6.0 is Deck Verified and works very well in places. But can slow to a 10-15 FPS crawl in certain situations.
30 FPS Cap, 9 watt TDP
If you find yourself in a big space battle between 4 factions, FPS can be in the 10-15 range.
I found myself in a space battle between 4 different factions. There were many ships on screen at once, lots of explosions, etc. And I was experiencing an unplayable 10-15 FPS. Outside of this, the game ran pretty smoothly capped at 30 FPS on the "low" preset. Supposedly, version 6.0 of the game offers big performance improvements so it's possible that the above scenario would be far worse on older builds. To be clear, I am on the Release Candidate version 3 of the 6.0 beta. In 2 days this will get pushed as the official update. I don't expect performance to change in this time.
I still consider it an amazing achievement to have this game running on the Deck, and it's awesome that it supports Dynamic Cloud Saves too (you can sleep the deck and continue on PC without closing the game) but it would be great if performance could be further improved so that the game can hold 30 fps minimum at all times on the Deck. Given that X4 is such a deep game, there are still many things you could do in the game via the Deck that will perform just fine.
Saves in this game are absolutely massive, 500MB or so. Saving and loading takes a WHILE
The game is almost unplayable on any settings other than the lowest
Really not enjoyable on a Steam Deck. Needs a lot of CPU and also, patience.
TDP-Limit to 7
The text is really small, sometimes i needed to user the "magnifying lens" feature of the deck.
I get 40~ FPS when i play, at which point the game slows down. For example when i set the FPS-limit to 30 the deck controller had a delay, which make selection or even flying a hassle. With 40 FPS it isn't quite so bad but still noticable.
When the problem with the small text and the delay of the control's at "low" FPS would be fixed, the game would be perfectly playable on the steam deck. Until then i wouldn't recommend it.
Some colors seem wrong or pink textures appear where they shouldn't
Axes overreact. Sensitivity too high. Missing Buttons/Needs Keyboard
Playable but not good. (medium and low settings)
Long loading times. About 3 times more than on PC
Needs adjustments from the developer and the community
