PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
Struggles to reach 60FPS at 1080p with frame drops as low as 14FPS. My computer runs most games at 200+ FPS
Will not launch without my launch options

Works well but with significant performance issues, thankfully the steam deck has FSR built in.
None
Had to enable mouse on right pad with pad click as mouse click. Some menus cannot be navigated unless you use proper mouse controls and touch screen only works in launcher.
Glyphs are wildly inaccurate and should be ignored.
Performance lags well behind what would be expected from a game that looks so dated. In order to achieve a smooth 60 frames per second I ended up having to go all the way down to 640 by 400 resolution and very low details otherwise I would end up with severe stuttering depending on the track being played.
Once you have set up the settings so that you can achieve good performance and understand the control limitations with the game, it's actually quite enjoyable, even considering how dated the game can look.
PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
use the multiplayer beta
Some in game control icons do not match steam deck controls (For example left and right bumpers are flipped from in game icons).
You will also need to use the touchscreen for any mouse input.
As long as you remember to use touchscreen for mouse input and remember the controls (as in game icons don't match), it works fine.
I LOVE GARFIELD OMG ITS MY ADDICTION!
The beginning menu, where you have to specify where the graphics are, looks extremely outdated, I asumme because of some .NET plugin or something similar, doesn't mess with the gameplay, just looks kinda out of place.
The launcher requires use of the touchscreen or trackpads on Steam Deck, but the controls with buttons and joy stick work out of the box!
I only tested the single player
Garfield Kart feels like it's native when played in Proton. The multiplayer beta also works flawlessly.
its the same
Great Garfield Game runs Great on Linux Long Live Lasagna
slight frame drops
Make sure to install multiplayer beta and select 2nd option when launching. You enjoy garfield better with friend :)))))))))))))))))))))))
If these performance issues don't occur on a per-system basis, but for everyone, the game really isn't enjoyable.
The game seems to stutter and lag a ton on some maps. The issues seems to get amplified when a controller is connect, in my case, an Xbox One controller. No ingame option seems to mitigate or resolve this problem.
low fps but im guessing the game is just poorly optimized
low fps but im guessing the game is just poorly optimized
game works fine but at around like 50-60 fps, certainly playable but i dont think this is a proton issue the game is just poorly optimized. other than that game works completely fine.
Singleplayer works great -- can't get multiplayer to launch
Works perfectly
Runs well out of the box. No tweaking needed.
Huge lag spikes on certain maps even when running low settings
Everything fine. Works out of the box.
Runs very smooth out of the box.
game runs perfectly when after enabling d3d and changing to medium settings (for some reason any other graphics settings made it run extremely poorly)

Runs smooth as butter on Proton 5.13-1.
I was able to play this game for about an hour on full-screen, 1920x1080p resolution. Runs about the same as I remember it running on Windows 10.

I have a non Vulkan supported GPU. had to add the following to startup options: PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command% Ran as others have described.
Occasional Framerate drop
Works with old hardware and Steam Controller
Game would randomly drop down to 20-40FPS depending on map.
Just like native Windows Garfield Kart
The MP beta branch has better performance (esp while drifting) and don't use any of the workshop controller configurations as they just shutdown your pc (as a troll), the built in one works.

Runs well, some bugs, but in general a good experience.
Alt-Tabbing crashes the game
Some levels crash the game when trying to pause
Do use the Multiplayer beta, I think regular stable doesn't work, select the second option when asked after pressing play for MP beta, also better performance on the beta

Works perfectly out of the box, but I am using the multiplayer beta, which normally increases perfomance on Windows as well. Runs at 60fps on 1080p fullscreen. Haven't tested multiplayer, but it should work. Also haven't tried the regular non-beta version, but if the beta patch increases performance on Windows and adds multiplayer, then there isn't any point to playing the normal version.
To enable the beta, just go to the properties of Garfield Kart, select the "Betas" tab and select the "multi_test" beta. When launching the game, the bottom option to "Play Garfield Kart" should usually be the MP version.

Any attempt to play at a high resolution results in painfully low (sub-10) FPS, and the controller mappings I found did not seem to work. Steam controller users beware, the 10-vote community mapping is a dupe - all/most buttons are mapped to "Shutdown computer". If I ever get one that works, I may upload my own.

Game starts but crashes after input from an xbox controller. And by "crashes" I mean it completely shuts down my computer...

Runs perfectly fine

Fails to initialize graphics without the tweak. Run well with it but frame rate it not good unless set to medium details.

Performace was bad. The game was playible, but ther frame rate was consistantly below 20 FPS. The only config this game has over graphics is a few presets on the menu that opens when it launches, and the game only became playible on "Very Low" settings, still with noticible stuttering.

Crashes on startup with error notice.

works perfectly including multiplayer when opted into the beta.

Both singleplayer and the multiplayer beta branch crash on startup

Ran perfectly out of the box.

crashes at start

Ran flawlessly

Doesnt run just crashes
