It would run perfectly with defaults (mine falls back to proton experimental) the command fixes audio tearing in when running in integrated
PROTON_USE_WINE3D=1
The command fixes the audio tearing when running my laptop in integrated mode, if you are using hybrid, or nvidia mode, then you probably don't need this.

The game is amazing, and it worked out of box (when in Hybrid or Nvidia mode), and the game is fun.
Audio tears up a lot, ONLY in integrated mode, but when i go to Hybrid or Nvidia, it just works.
The default compatiblity in my steam is "Proton Experimental"

Tried only first mission from challenges so far but it worked smoothly with high graphics.
Installs and boots out-of-the-box
Game doesn't run, wrong LOD levels error
Works out of the box

havent played yet but wanted to add report because switching to Proton 4 made game launch successfully

Got "No Language Packs Found" error.
I tried all version of proton from steam's compatibility tabs, but still getting the same "No Language Packs Found" error.

Game ran out of the box without issues but my previous review still stands if you are running on older hardware.
DRI_PRIME=1 %command%
Check if your hardware can run Vulkan 1.3. If you can't run it,you have to go with the older version of Proton. I suggest checking Proton 5.0-10
This game works out of the box in Proton 8.0-1
Driver: Use NVIDIA Proprietary Driver ( 530.41.03 )
Desktop Environment: KDE
VRAM: 6GB
Brand / Type: MSI GL65 10SDK
Game won't start. "Please install at least one language pack" error after launch.
I've tried multiple proton versions(proton7.0-3, proton experimental, proton 5.0-1.0, GE-proton7-26, proton4.2-9) but none of them work. Everytime I tried to launch the game I got no language pack error instead. One comment mentioned that installing steam via pacman can solve the issue, but unfortunately this didn't work for me.
game won't start. "no language pack installed" error.
Game won't start. Everytime I tried to launch the game I got "no language pack installed" error instead. I had tried multiple proton versions(proton experimental, proton7.0-3,GE-proton7-26) but none of them worked. Other reports mentioned that old verison of pronton can launch the game, but unfortunately even the old proton(5.0-10) didn't work for me. I installed the steam via pacman

Launches and play brilliantly (I actually found bluetooth audio was more reliable than on Windows). I did get an error about language packs not being installed when using Steam from Flatpak. Install Steam from a regular package manager (ie Pacman) instead and it worked perfectly.
Works out of the box.

I set it to 5.0-10 just to fix the "install language pack" so I can get the game running.
Doesn't work on Proton 5.13-4

Proton-5.9-GE-5-ST
I had to use custom launcher https://bibber.eu/downloads/cnc-ultimate-collection-launchers/ as I have the Origin Ultimate Collection and it just doesn't work with the built-in launcher with any version of Proton or wine I tried. Error was completely unhelpful page fault
1920x1080, ultra graphic settings and no performance problem
Game boots and loads missions, but frequent crashes make it unplayable.
This game crashed so many times that I just gave up trying to play.
I'm running this through 5.0.2, so it's possible that some kind of regression happened. I'm seeing a lot of positive reviews, so I'm not entirely sure what my issue is.
Works out of the box

It's almost platinum but there were some graphical issues with glaring lights and shadows. Using D9VK fixed the issue.
PROTON_USE_D9VK=1 %command%

The GUI launches, but once you get to the mission, the game window is black and you can't see your units. Unplayable in this state.

Overview of the user created maps, where start positions are selected, is not correctly visible, thus start position cannot be properly set. It works fine with older proton versions, like 3.6-9.

Works very nicely

Not sure on why the one below played it for over 10 hours then marked it as borked. This game runs perfect. Runs so much better than on my Windows. On Windows I have an annoying flashing bug that all the lighting flashes. Not on Linux. Games naturally capped at 30fps on Windows and Linux sadly.

Runs with near native performance.

Runs great, but can take some time to start/load

Nice graphics, runs tutorials without a problem

Runs perfectly fine with high framerates on Ultra High settings. Just note that you sometimes can't change video settings while in a match.

The game takes a long time to start; add "127.0.0.1 files.ea.com" to /etc/hosts, as the game is trying to fetch "Comrade News" and waiting for a timeuut.

Runs with good performance, but minor graphics issues
