I set it to 5.0-10 just to fix the "install language pack" so I can get the game running.
Game ran out of the box without issues but my previous review still stands if you are running on older hardware.
DRI_PRIME=1 %command%
Check if your hardware can run Vulkan 1.3. If you can't run it,you have to go with the older version of Proton. I suggest checking Proton 5.0-10
Game runs fine for awhile but it really lags once the more zombies come DXVK_ASYNC=1 PROTON_HEAP_DELAY_FREE=1 has no effect to it.
As the game started to lag, the input for mouse and keyboard also suffered a delay as well. Like 2-3 milliseconds after the first input and also it stacks up so you can't really be spamming your mouse click when the lag comes.
It ran fine for the most part but it started to lag when there's way too much enemies running at you and too much gore left in the map you are in.
Sadly this is an issue with the game rather than compatibility after checking the steam community about it.
Be aware that I was running OBS and resource manager while testing this and the processor and the ram didn't even break 30% load when those lag spikes occurred.
Thou, it's won't run on 6.12-GE-1 and 6.16-GE-1 so I have to roll it back to 6.3-6 to get it running
Game still have bugs making it difficult to identify the issues. The launch options still works but I do suggest checking the logs first
PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 taskset -c 0-15 %command%
-Had to install an older version of DXVK due to my hardware getting dropped from support. -Also tried to reinstall that EU4 engine that was included with game cause it was one of the fixes stated on steam discussion board (I didn't think I had to but I was seeing some errors something related to it on the logs)
It's more likely that this is due to my hardware rather than what is happening with Proton
Game runs fine after a fresh install. After that, a popup comes showing a fatal crash by the EU4 engine. This stopped after I rolled back to 6.3-8
The game doesn't run well on any of the GE-Proton7-43 and 33. I definetly suggest try using 6.8-3 for now.
Try the Master List of Phantom Doctrine Fixes on the game's Discussion board on steam next if only rolling back to 6.3-8 doesn't work.
The game runs smooth on default settings. This might even be a faster way to get into game.
I used Proton-6.12-GE-1 because I switched it as the global default for my other games that needs proton.
The Native port has dependency issues as stated in one of the comments in Steam Community page and the guide posted only covers Debian and it's other variants. This will become an issue for the game in the future when other Linux variants starts dropping 32bit support.
