Works Great

Completely playable with Proton 8.0-4. Only flaw is DCUO Game Configuration which causes Microsoft .NET to report "unhandled excption".
PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 PROTON_SET_GAME_DRIVE=1 %command%
If DC Universe Online is fullscreen, the game tends to lockup when app switching. However, no lockup occurs if the game is windowed while app switching. Other than this, DCUO remains very stable.
If "Game Configuration" is launched from within the DCUO LaunchPad, Microsoft .Net Framework reports of an unhandled exception within DCUO Game Configuration. If I choose Continue, while I'm able to select the various different controls that makes up DCUO Game Configuration, all the controls are blank; however, if I tell Microsoft .NET Framework crash dialog to Quit, then the DCUO Game Configuration just gracefully quits without crashing.
This Microsoft .NET Framework "Unhandled eception bug" only effects DCUO Game Configuration and does not effect DCUO in any way and still does allow me to start the game when I select "Play".

PROTON_SET_GAME_DRIVE=1 %command%
Switching between fullscreen and windowed or alt tab'ing will freeze the game.
Avoid Alt-Tab and this game plays very well.
gamemoderun %command% --disable-gpu
only work on proton 4.11-13
PROTON_SET_GAME_DRIVE=1 PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command% --disable-gpu
Requires the commands to get through initial launch menu
PROTON_SET_GAME_DRIVE=1 PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command% --disable-gpu
Limit to 40hz/40 FPS with SD Limiter on
If not using Proton 5 the controls will not work
Not very often at all
With some help with redditors and some of the advice on this page, this game can work near flawlessly at 40hz with an excellent battery life for an MMO.
Here are the steps I did in order to get it fully working (even though its listed as unsupported):
- Install the game (internal drive preferred for the quicker game file check at the beginning of each session in the launcher) and launch the game with Proton Experimental and the above launch commands. It will most likely crash on its very first launch but it's fine, launch it again. Im sure the "WINED3D" one is not needed for this step but I left it as is.
When the DCUO launcher finishes checking and installing the recent patch, the green play button will pop up. Do not click this and instead close the game, it's time to switch Proton versions.
Switch to Proton 5.0-10 and remove everything but the PROTON_SET_GAME_DRIVE=1 launch command. I had issues with the other commands when using Proton 5 but that might just be my SD.
Launch the game again, leading to the reinstallation of some Direct X install script stuff. This will take a while but when its done, you'll be back at the DCUO launcher. Press play when everything is patched up and a redistributable installation will pop up. Use the touch screen to install this and youll be good to go right after.
Optional: I highly recommend capping this game at 40hz and using the SD frame limiter. It feels smooth enough and the battery life can be upwards of 3 hours, depending on what you do of course.
Setting it to the native SD resolution 800p may look weird at first but it eventually fixes the UI so it will never be an issue. I set all the settings to max except the effects, which I have just a notch below max and its near flawless. There is the occasional stutter when loading new things but the more you play the better it gets. The camera may also feel a bit laggy at 40hz which can be remedied by going 60 but it's perfectly fine for me.
gamemoderun %command% --disable-gpu
Hello everyone! Been playing this game since 2012, and only recently on Linux. Game run FLAWLESS, even better than in Windows with just a single launch option. The overall experience is really good, again, even better than Windows: the launch option " --disable-gpu " is only to avoid a blackscreen on the launcher itself to make it work perfect. The other command (optional) "gamemoderun %command" is to start the optimization of the operative system to disable some process in background can hurt performances (if your distro doesn't include "gamemoderun" package, just git clone by the official repository (Feral/Gamemoderun) on your local drive and follow the simple instructions to compile & install. Nothing to highlight as negative, sometimes the game will close for no reason, but this isn't linux/proton's fault, just the game itself (happen on W10/11 too). I noticed a lot of users are suggesting to add an additional command ("PROTON_SET_GAME_DRIVE=1"), for me wasn't necessary to be honest,i've never get the space drive problem, but if you do, include it on your launch options with the previous command. What else? Nothing! Just enjoy the game! =) Peace!
PROTON_SET_GAME_DRIVE=1 PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command% --disable-gpu
PROTON_SET_GAME_DRIVE=1 needed to install the game as otherwise it would complain of not having enough space to install. --disable-gpu is needed to work around the white launcher. PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 as i experienced more random crashing without it. The game itself is known to crash a bit on its own, so anything that would help it stabilize is appreciated.
PROTON_SET_GAME_DRIVE=1
Rotaing character during character creation and during style causes a bit of stuttering.
Most likely you'll need PROTON_SET_GAME_DRIVE=1 in the %command% options.
Need to click where the play button is on the white loading screen, don't Alt-Tab or game will freeze
background audio for cutscenes was distorted, glitchy sound, voices good
less with this version, went good time without crashed, left via menu
Default Proton with STeam works ok, but the GE is better. Experimental may be fine but 7.0-1 seemed good. Other Protons don't work or not well, but 4.2-9 enables loader screen viewing. Also you can alt-tab with 4.2-9. But it was more buggy, crashing. Doesn't crash much on GE. Better than experimental or 7.0-1
For the "insufficient space" bug, use this: PROTON_SET_GAME_DRIVE=1 %command%
. but you may not need it with GE, though i don't know as i've already installed using the starting command. Since then I've left the field blank and it works.
It's smooth and fast and nice, except for the white loader problem and the alt-tab problem and maybe crashing.
Platinum - except for minor launcher issue, whiteout
When the launcher window comes up it will turn white. Just wait for it to complete file scan and the play button will become clickable. Bottom right corner. Smooth sailing afterwards. Proton-experimental.
It is exactly the same as playing on windows 10, actually better, though that may be subjective.
i seem to recall it worked on proton 5, but now proton 4 works (4.11-13)
gamemoderun %command% --disable-gpu
I have been actively playing and thus testing EQ2 and DCUO via GE and vanilla Proton and this is my most recent update. As of this writing, there is no need for Proton GE anymore, both EQ2 and DCUO run great on Nvidia, Intel and AMD hardware with Proton 5.x and 6.3 and higher (experimental). If you are experiencing a white launcher / launchpad, put this command into your Steam launch options for EQ2, DCUO and Planetside 2:
gamemoderun %command% --disable-gpu
This will a) make sure that you are getting maximum performance since both games are cpu heavy and b) it will fix the white launcher issue.
All in all / verdict: EQ2 and DCUO run absolutely great via Proton and even much more stable than the native Windows version. Performance and loading times are better too.

only proton 5.0 works
everything above doesn't

Oyunu proton 6.3-7 de çalıştırınca launcher geliyor ama beyaz launcher gözükmüyor
Proton 6.3-7 de launcher gözükmüyor bembeyaz

Proton GE 6.20-GE-1
Crashed once during loading screen
With regular Proton the launcher/login screen did not work/was plain white. With Proton GE the launcher worked and I was able to sign in and launch the game. There are some intro videos so you might need GE anyway for those.
The settings configuration application lists no resolutions, and had glitchy behavior when changing settings, also throws .net pop-up error messages (those could just be ignored). Other than that the game seemingly works, except that it crashed once on a loading screen and had a dropped connection. I think there are a bit too many issues to be considered an enjoyable experience.
The game will work nearly flawlessly. ``PROTON_SET_GAME_DRIVE=1 %command%`` if you, like me, have "Insuficient Storage" reports.
I've been having some issues playing this game. It either works flawlessly or simply doesn't at all. After some tinkering I've narrowed it down to these flags PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 PROTON_SET_GAME_DRIVE=1 %command%
. These made the game smoother (possible confirmation bias) and allowed me to actually launch the game without "insuficient space" messages.
Overall the game runs smooth with little to no issues. There is a bug I'm still unable to fix and/or effectively reproduce which is a crash to desktop that may happen at any time while playing (even when not interacting with the game itself).
The game will not support alt-tab while running fullscreen. Set it to windowed mode if you wish to have a smooth game play.
A random crash once in a while. Unable to effectively reproduce it at will.
Using Proton-4.15-GE-1, I managed to get the launcher to finally open. It errored out when trying to sign in though. Progress!

Works great on Proton 5.0-10
Excellent experience with Proton 5.0-10. Frankly the experience is smoother than an install on Win10 (on which the game requires admin privileges to launch). There is slightly more impact on hardware than would otherwise be on a plain windows install but that's given with the Proton overhead.
Using Proton 5.0-10 I can see and login to the launcher again, returning the game to playable.

I press the play button in 5.13.4, the launcher opens but it stays on the white screen after the first black.
I press the play button in 5.13.4, the launcher opens but it stays on the white screen after the first black.
Game works under Ubuntu 20.04 with some bugs. I'm sure it's a Ubuntu problem and not Proton.
No sound at all in Ubuntu. I'm not sure why, but I have been playing anyway with no audio. Audio seems to works fine under Fedora 32.
On Ubuntu the game would lock up/crash when losing focus. This does not happen on Fedora 32 with similar hardware.
A couple of crashes here and there, mostly related to the game window losing focus.

proton 5.9 sürümünde oyundan atıyor
5.9 da oyundan attı
for a surprisingly old game, it is surprisingly kept very current
grame crashed in the part of the tutorial where sinestro and the other guy joined and as they were headed to ai core. I was running around smashing what didn't get smashed after the big robot fight.
and surprisingly, i know three surpisingly's now that's four! they kept if very current!
Aside form the random crashes coming back with the BoP episode everything is still in good shape.
No issues
the game crashes
oyun crash veriyor
DC Universe Online still runs as well as it did in my last report.
Every once in a while DCUO will crash at startup and need to be restarted. I've not had a crash during game play, only at start up. The crash is very rare but has happened a few times.

Installed via steam as normal. Updated via launcher as normal. Game played flawless as if it were played on Windows. Wired XBOX ONE gamepad worked OOB. USB headset worked OOB including voice chat. No crashes like there used to be. I do not hesitate to give a Platinum rating.

dcuo launcher launches the play key says I'm playing but the game doesn't open

launcher is also slow verification of the game's files

dcuo play button says setup vs 2017 x86 setup says setup says setup failed and error following 0x80070424-service does not exist

When I open the dcuo says the play button is playing, but the game does not open

Works perfectly out of the box

Using Steam Play + Proton 4.2-3. No tweaks needed. Played for 3+ hours with no crashes. Xbox360 controller works out of the box.

With command setting "PROTON_NO_ESYNC = 1% command%" I played for hours without any difference to windows with slightly less fps of course. Between 70 and 30 fps!

Runs perfectly after disabling Esync and setting D3D11, zero crashes. Without setting the launch options, it randomly crashes often.

For gamepad support on Fedora 29 I had to install and enable xboxdrv. Once I installed xboxdrv my PS4 gamepad worked as it would under Windows. All other settings were default as installed by Steam.
