Works out of the box, but some issues with menus and cutscenes that don't detract from the core gameplay
Cutscenes won't play properly, issues with menus
The servers I played worked perfectly fine

gamemoderun %command%
If you want widescreen resolution type in console (~): /r_customwidth 1920 , /r_customheight 1080 , /vid_restart
Plays as with out issues
Runs perfectly OOTB.
The game runs with zero issues OOTB.

Out of the box, the game doesn't work. Switching to Luxtorpeda or Proton 5.13-6 fixes menu issue.
Steam Deck Settings
- Refresh Rate - 40Hz
- Half Rate Shading - On
- TDP - 5W
- Manual GPU Clock - 500MHz
Notes
When booting up with default settings (Proton 7.0-4), the menu is virtually unusable since the screen seems to stick to just a frozen fire image.
Using Proton 5.13-6 allows the menu to be usable and the game runs fine with the default settings! Luxtorpeda also works, although you would need to install ProtonUp-Qt in desktop mode first in order to be able to install it.
Not many servers, but when you find one it's lots of fun!
Switching to an older version of Proton solved my issue
Menu doesn't display correctly, but can hear mouse rolling over menu options
Can't navigate through menu
works perfectly, even CPMA mod works 1:1.
Works great out of the box.
Wish the native version would be installed via Steam too.
luxtorpeda: https://github.com/dreamer/luxtorpeda
Proton version runs out of the box, but you can run with native engine using luxtorpeda
Works great!
A mouse click counts as two. Not painful, but still unnerving
Almost natively, with but a petty issue described below.
One click in main menu counts as two. Just used the ENTER key instead while using the cursor to highlight different options in the menu.
go to local files and find the q3config.cfg. Modify this lines if you use 1366x768 resolution for example:
seta r_mode "-1" seta r_fullscreen "0" seta r_customwidth "1363" seta r_customheight "730"
Download the "hide top bar" extension if you use Gnome.Press the shift + tab keys to adjust the game window
Have fun :)
work perfectly
Only one difficulty level because of the broken menu.
Could not select difficulty before playing and settings jumped past the initial menu, as if the mouse clicked double or something. Not worth playing without higher single-player difficulty.

Works flawlessly.

Working perfectly out of the box.

Runs better than on Windows

Tested single player demo. Works amazingly well.

Singleplayer worked perfectly, couldn't select native screen resolution (2560x1440) but not completely sure if you can even do that in Windows.

Has the same problems as presumably all "id Tech 3" based games, after start the menu is weird, going on a server fixes this, then it works everywhere. Brightness is not changable, but since Quake 3 is not as dark as other games like CoD it is definitely playable. Multiplayer works flawlessly.

Tried the demo, works very nice. Didn''t try multiplayer.

Appears to run flawlessly

There's a bug in Windows that causes the cursor to go mad. Here? No bug.

Some minor warnings in the console

Sadly the mouse only moves the camera when you click

q3config.cfg edited for HD resolution

No noticeable issues.
