Runs smooth

Performance could be better, but runs without issues out of the box.
Setting shadows to anything above medium ruins the framerate even with everything else on low.

Plays great on my high-end GPU desktop (Asus Flow Z13 2025) but I bet would be too slow on Steamdeck.
It works out of the box using Steam Play

gamescope -W 2560 -H 1440 -r 144 -- %command%
I had an issue with the inventory system where, after opening a container, I could move the selection box from the left inventory to the right inventory, but not the other way. In order to get the selection box back to the left, I had to go all the way to the right so that it would wrap back around. I was able to work around this by using gamescope. Not sure why this makes a difference.
Searching the forums, the game seems to have several quirks and bugs even when running on windows. So it's not surprising that a few of them also show up when running through proton.

Demanding game, works out of the box
For me it just worked out of the box, you do need good hardware if you want to crank the settings up

There is a certain level of tinkering required, however not so much as to be inaccesible to a typical gamer.
Had to remove the videos found in "steamapps/common/Pacific Drive/PenDriverPro/Content/Movies/". Also installed vcrun2022 prior to finding the actual fix, I've no idea if that had changed anything.
Switched to experimental, but that's the default for me. Runs out of the box with no issues.

BT controller wouldn't connect.
Needed to change grahics settings from Ultra to Medium.
Had to use DX11 mode, and have the Z1E in at least 20W TDP mode.
Unplayable due to choppy rubber band lagging graphics due to low FPS even on lower settings

Can't even launch the game without modifying it's files and even then it doesn't run great.
The game refused to launch before I did die () { echo -e "$*" >&2; exit -1; } for FILE in *.mp4; do ffmpeg -i "$FILE" -vcodec libx264 -crf 18 output.mp4 || die "Error running ffmpeg for $FILE" mv output.mp4 "$FILE" || die "Error replacing $FILE" chmod 755 "$FILE" || die "Error setting permissions on $FILE" done
in ~/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/Pacific Drive/PenDriverPro/Content/Movies
directory (for me that was in a different place due to my Steam library being on a different drive. I also did protontricks 1458140 vcrun2022
, idk if it had an effect
FPS is inconsistent, stutters

Works fine
Crashed maybe three times in my playthrough, no big deal

The game was crashing all the time in the beginning of the adventure (before arriving to the first safe garage) until I applied this workaround: https://www.gamingonlinux.com/2024/02/driving-survival-game-pacific-drive-is-very-cool-heres-the-fix-for-steam-deck-linux/
The default setting in Steam is Proton Hotfix. I suspect this Proton isn't the most optimal, even after solving the crashing issue by doing the winefix workaround.

Game crashes right after launching
gamemoderun %command%
Deleted intro videos
Tried many solutions found here but none worked for me

Works Great
I get more FPS then on Windows 10

The game runs at between 10-15 FPS no matter the settings. Hardly playable
The game runs fine on Linux, but the Steam Deck is just too weak to play it smoothly.

PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC=90 DXVK_FRAME_RATE= DXVK_ASYNC=0 DXVK_HDR=1 WINEFSYNC=1 PROTON_NO_ESYNC=0 PROTON_NO_FSYNC=0 MANGOHUD=1 gamemoderun gamescope -f -W 3840 -H 2160 --hdr-enabled --force-grab-cursor -- %COMMAND% -dx12
Startup videos wouldn't play without extra steps
Couldn't turn around without hitting an edge in gamescope without option --force-grab-cursor
Run the following script in pacific drive movies folder to fix the intro videos so that they play.
~/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/Pacific Drive/PenDriverPro/Content/Movies
#!/usr/bin/bash
die () { echo -e "$*" >&2; exit -1; }
for FILE in *.mp4; do
ffmpeg -i "$FILE" -vcodec libx264 -crf 18 output.mp4 || die "Error running ffmpeg for $FILE"
mv output.mp4 "$FILE" || die "Error replacing $FILE"
chmod 755 "$FILE" || die "Error setting permissions on $FILE"
done

I tried porting a save over from a friend's Windows computer---it flatly didn't work but there wasn't much progress anyways. Of course, saving/loading on the device works fine.
I had to switch to Medium effects/foliage but it's been a pretty comfortable/great looking experience. Intro videos simply take a while so I would maybe recommend deleting them, but they didn't actually stop the game from launching. Initial launch took forever, but it was the first time I launched a game with my new graphics card.

ProtonGE did not work. intro videos bugged out. swapped to Default 9.0-3 and I had zero issues after that.
This is a tinker report because "My" default which is ProtonGE did not work, however steams default did work fine.

gamemoderun %command%
Deleted startup videos.
Proton-GE mediafoundation fixes didn't work. Had to delete videos at steamapps/common/Pacific Drive/PenDriverPro/Content/Movies
Video issue seems to not happen to everyone. YMMV

Only worked on Proton 9.0-3, works fine on this version but later versions of GE and experimental and older versions of 8.X wouldn't work. Game launches and shows a color gradient screen like the intro videos were not loading correctly then sits at a black screen. On 9.0 everything works flawlessly.
mangohud %command%
On first start only.

In general, it does not interfere with the game, you can even take it as another anomaly of the Zone
On most levels, when starting the car, the game lags (intermittent picture and sound) about 5 seconds
On most levels, when starting the car, the game lags (intermittent picture and sound) about 5 seconds

after game loads, all I see is a black screen and nothing happens.
tried with several Proton versions, with protontricks, different commands, DX11 or DX12. Nothing happened unfortunately.
gamemoderun %command%
Engine starting sound distorted

Works great out of the box
runs out of the box

It is a bit jarring at first, but you quickly forget that it's under 30 fps. The game remains very fun.
There's some icons that are very small. The item scanner has icons that are way too small for distant objects, which aren't readable, but not a deal breaker. There might be some small text, but nothing so far that has affected gameplay.
Game runs mostly smoothly, but at around 20-25 fps. Doesn't affect gameplay since it's a mostly slow game. High speed sequences can be somewhat annoying, but with headlights on, it hasn't been a problem so far.

No matter how I adjust the settings it won't hit 30 let alone stable. Ultra is completely unplayable but Low to High is barely any different, significant worse graphically with like 4 FPS difference. Small studio and all that but it's incredibly disappointing to see a lack of optimization despite their claims of fixing performance, even people on higher end windows PCs are still having issues.
At this point I don't think they're ever really going to put in the time to get under the hood and make it run as smoothly as it by all rights and visuals should. It'd be a perfect Deck game otherwise.

навіть при мінімальних налаштуваннях, відчутні мікрофрізи, досить не оптимізовано
Running in DX12 seeing some large artifacts at times, but they seem to dissapear quickly

Runs buttery smooth on Ultra graphics settings, the "Proton Experimental" doesnt even seem unstable. Might even run better in comparison to windows.
For some reason steam doesnt detect my GPU right, I am using an RX6600XT, not integrated.
Added mangohud %command%
launch option which however is absolutely not necessary.
