EA Login Screen
I have the use GE-Proton9-27.
After a recent SteamOS update the game refused to launch, uninstalling and re-installing the game got it to lauch and after logging into EA account it worked just fine.
Note: During first launch , after the EA logo shows up, screen is black and audio is playing, quitting and starting again fixes it.

works out of the box

Work perfectly after you log once into EA Play. But that is without issues too.

Black screen with my mouse
Tried GE, experimetal and 8.
No matter what I try, I cannot get this to work

Startup screen was overlayed over the game screen, making it unplayable. Was only fixed by using Proton 8.

Crash starting a new level while antialiasing is on. If disabled it works flawlessly
You need to be logged in EA to play but the login page is promoted only the first time. The frame rate can't go over 80fps
DXVK_ASYNC=1 PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 gamemoderun %command%
Some in-game movies where missing and replaced with test screens.

Unravel is a cozy little puzzle-platformer. Swedish devs. Too bad it isn't a indie game. You need to go through the EA BS at startup.
On Nobara OS the game installed and started right up after going through the EA BS... But, on my SD OLED I only got sound and a black screen on startup after the EA logo. I switched to Desktop mode and started the game, I let the EA BS run and started the game. Went back to Game mode and it works just fine. This was my first EA game on the deck. Just got it and haven't done anything to it except installing EmuDeck.
despite EA launcher runs out of the box really well
I can't get the game to run. EA launcher started and asked for personal information, I put it in, the game never ran.
PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%

Missing videos
The probability that the game makes it past the EA launcher is approximately 15%
Requires deletion of the ".../compatdata/1225560" folder in order for the EA launcher to reinstall itself

Finally a perfect out-of-box experience
This game had a lot of issues before, but works perfectly now. The only issue is that it requires Origin, which has been know to break from time to time, so proceed with caution

Typical ea account login shenanigans.
One off freeze when waking from sleep with no Internet when I had a connection putting my steam deck to sleep causing the ea login window to appear but never resolve.
Other than the typical EA app login shenanigans, the game ran perfectly start to finish with only the most occasional of tiny stutters when loading another area, keep in mind I did run this game off the SD card. Highly recommended.

Game used to work. About a month ago, EA launcher bundled with the game was updated and I cannot start the game any more.
Avoid games with 3rd party launchers.
Works flawlessly. Graphics are nice and the game feels like it's designed for the deck, aside for that EA launcher that needs to be fixed.
The game loaded slower because it had to wait for the EA launcher to start.
Upon starting the game for the first time, the EA launcher was installed (I guess, because it took a few minutes before the game actually started) and after that it opened the game without prompting me to sign in (probably because my EA account is linked to my Steam account). I later opened the EA launcher and Unravel was now in my library (before opening the game, I didn't have it in my EA account). Subsequent times you open the game, it will load faster.
Anyway, it's a great game for the deck!
Limit the FPS to 45. Although, 60 should still give you decent battery life.
Difficult to read text, initially. Can be solved by changing the res to 1200x800. The controller instructions (icons) were still hard to read during the game.
Works wonderfully out of the box, you just need to disable mangohud, as it seems to cause problems with this game, no idea why
MANGOHUD=0 %command%
EA play launcher and login. After Login it says, that it cannot find the game. Solved by connecting steam after the login.
The game uses the EA Desktop launcher. You'll need to use the touchscreen a mouse and keyboard to sign in. On the bright side, if you previously played on Origin/EA Desktop, your cloud saves will be synced from there and Steam achievements will be automatically unlocked!
When the game first started up, it was running at some ridiculously low resolution that made even larger text very difficult to read. I couldn't even tell what the resolution was, but I'm guessing it was the lowest one the game will run at. Once I was able to get into the settings and bump up to the max resolution offered, everything was fine.
Noticed a few stutters here and there. Didn't play long enough to see if it would be a major issue.
When exiting the game, the EA launcher didn't close correctly, so I had to hit B on the Steam Deck to abort the game.
I only played for a few minutes to try it out, but it looks like everything should work fine with the exception of some performance issues. Some graphics settings might need to be turned down to get stable performance, but Unravel doesn't offer a lot of options in that regard. I loved this game when I originally played it on desktop, so I'm hoping to find time to play it again soon. If I get more playtime in, I'll update my review with any additional issues I find.
Finished game with minor issues
Dualsense controller was not detected with steam input enabled. Works after disabling steam input but treated as a generic controller with button 06 etc. Making it hard to find the correct button to press
2 crashes
Had to force quit and relaunch after first launch. The EA app was blank and I think it expected me to login. Was fine from second launch onwards
PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
Starts in low resolution and at full HD menus are unusable.
Slow motion animation at 10fps using 640x480 resolution
GE-Proton7-41 was the only version I could peruade the EA Desktop launcher to run with, which really constrains tinkering with the Unravel game itself. The game was unplayably slow with WineD3D and crashed with DXVK.
Not really trouble. Initial install requires use of touchscreen. On later starts launcher is straught fprward bypassed.
Works perfectly fine.
Origin launcher requires use of touch screen
Some text is small but not unbearable

Just in some parts of the level "The Letter" there are some framerates hipcups (the parts with the birds). It is not related to shaders, because I've played several times and the issue remains. The issue is not present in any other level.
When launching the game, a black window is displayed and then it self minimizes to the system tray. Then you have to manually click the minimized window to start playing. It happens every time.
The Proton Experimental release I've used to play is from 2022-07-28
set the refresh rate to 40hz

Played the whole game without issues. Had to try again starting the game because of origin doing its stuff a few times, but nothing to report once in-game.
PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
As vezes o jogo não inicia, basta tentar mais de uma vez a inicialização.
PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
I need to use WINED3D compatibilty layer and yet, sometimes won't launch.
I've tried the latest stable version of Proton, Proton Experimental, ProtonGE and I'm not able to play the game. I also tried older versions of Proton that other users have mentioned, but still nothing.
Exits during into.

On Proton Experimental the game would launch just fine but crash before loading the main menu. After installing and setting up Proton GE, it ran just fine.

I haven't played much, but since all the problems happen on launch, I THINK it would be fine
6.21-GE-2 GloriousEggroll
Glorious Eggroll
It runs well but you need to install Proton 6.1.4-GE-2 linked here: https://tinyurl.com/2dxzwfr3

Able to install Origin, not able to play
To install Origin you have to choose Proton 5.0-10. and the game even starts and shows loader screen. but hangs. newer Proton versions did not help to launch the game, however Origin ran and connected well.
