I followed the instructions here and got the game working, it took a long time for everything to download and install but I can safely say that I get no issues with the game now
protontricks 339340 wmp11 did not work for me because of permission errors, winetricks wmp11 did not work for me either.
For anyone else having the same issues, what I did was:
- re-installed the game(probably not necessary but I wanted to start from a blank slate)
- changed the compatibility proton version to 5.0-10
- ran the game once so that protontricks could find it, the game will go to a black screen after the Capcom screen, exit it then close steam
- run protontricks 339340 wmp11. This time, the command should complete without issues and the game should now be playable.
Runs almost perfectly without any tinkering
This games runs near perfectly, the one small issue I had was that the intro video's audio and video was out of sync for a small part, maybe 30 seconds or so. Other than that, this is a perfect out-of-box experience
Runs perfect out of the box
fps was a little lower than I expected with the performance setting, I beat the game, then played it a second time and put it on the graphics quality, which you would think would lower the quality, instead, I got higher fps, very strange, but that's not a bad thing.

Had some fairly common dropped frames but not enough to mess with the experience
Shouldn't this have platinum status?
Shouldn't this have platinum status or am I just lucky? I just installed it from steam, didn't change any settings whatsoever, clicked play and it ran without any problems. The only iffy thing that happened is that the fps seems to be capped at 60fps, other than that, no issues for me whatsoever on Fedora 34.
Don't know why my other report posted as thumbs down
My previous report posted as a thumbs down so I'm posting again. This game runs perfectly fine for me without any tweaks whatsoever, just default settings in steam.
For about 40% of the game, the cutscenes played without issue, but for the rest of the game, all the cutscenes were replaced with SMPTE colour bars, the cutscene would then cut out after a couple of seconds. This was extremely annoying since I missed most of the information in the game, I had to go to YouTube to view the cutscenes I missed.
The very last boss battle never started because the game would not move past the loading screen. I had to log in to Windows(for the first time in months), download the game, play the final boss battle, then delete the game and log back in to Fedora...very frustrating.
A minor issue was that there would be severe stuttering whenever a player would walk through a door, this cleared up in the second half of the game without any tinkering from me.
Apart from those three issues mentioned, the game played perfectly, but I can't imagine anyone enjoying an experience similar to mine, particularly because of the cutscene issue, most of what is going on in the game is explained during the cutscenes so if they don't play, you won't know what's going on.
I can't get the game to run. EA launcher started and asked for personal information, I put it in, the game never ran.
