Steam Performace Tab: only turned on Allow Tearing and 12 TDP. In game, turned off vsync, the rest was all at max. I did use a reshader mod with the Decky plugin LetMeReshade. Used this one called "Darker and Atmoshpere": https://www.nexusmods.com/residentevilrevelations/mods/24?tab=description

At the end of chapter 1 the cutscene is broken. All cutscenes before did work. Tried default proton and experimental. Using Proton GE 9-16 fixed that.

with the default steam proton videos doesn't work, using GE-Proton fixes it
The game works fine from start to finish, videos don't play unless you use GE-Proton, some people need to instal wmp11 with protontricks even when I didn't have to do it and movies played correctly, probably they changed the installation script. Played the game with the Thirteenag widescreen fix to have the game on ultrawidescreen
WINEDLLOVERRIDES='dinput8.dll=n,b' %command%
Videos aren't centered but besides that the game runs great on a uws monitor.

install wmp11
By default, the cutscenes don't work
Use protontricks to install wmp11 - without it, the games cutscenes won't work. Otherwise the game runs fine: No stability issues, slowdowns or graphical bugs.

Game couldn't find/wouldn't load my DLC content and complained when loading my saved data
In my own testing, the DLC would not load (I own them all). They were verified to be installed by steam. If you're OK playing just base game, you're golden!

Works great apart from a handful of broken fmv
checkerboard effect if not set to native res like resident evil 5
A handful of pre-rendered cutscenes didn't work. I assume it's using the proton media converter/fossilize and it'll be fixed for other players since I went through them.
mouse acceleration is on by default, disable it.
Works perfectly OOTB with proton experimental. Cutscenes works. Finished the game without any bugs.

winetricks -q wmp11 in Terminal. Then WINEPREFIX=/home/YOURUSERNAME/THEWINEPREFIXFOLDERCREATEDBYLUTRISFORYOURGAME/ winetricks -q wmp11
Follow these steps for Ubuntu 22.10 (64 bits) (I haven't done this in another OS).
Install Lutris (the deb package from the official website).
Inside Lutris, and if you have a wooden leg, install your game by clicking in the + in the upper left corner and choosing an installation medium.* If you don't have a wooden leg, install your game from your Steam account.
Install the Windows version of the game in a new folder inside the Z: "drive" (it isn't really a drive, it's just another folder inside your /home/ folder).
If you have a wooden leg, install the CPY option without any DLCs.*
Install DirectX.
After the installation is completed, don't run the game.
Open the Terminal. Type this: "winetricks -q wmp11". You'll have to wait.
Install ProtonUp-Qt (the AppImage from the official website).
Inside ProtonUp-Qt, install wine-lutris-ge-7.0rc3-1-x86_64 in Lutris.
Open Lutris. Configure your game. Change its banner if you want. Choose the executable file inside the Z: drive, where your installed game is. Change the Wine version to wine-lutris-ge-7.0rc3-1-x86_64. Deactivate BattlEye. Deactivate Easy. You won't be able to play this game in multiplayer mode.
Open your game in Lutris. Choose the Assault Mode in single player. Deactivate vertical syncronization. Limit frames per second to 60.
Open Lutris. Configure your game. Change the Wine prefix folder created by Lutris for your game, for the one of your OS, the /.wine/ folder inside of your /home/ folder, where wmp11 is currently installed.
Open your game in Lutris. Choose the Assault Mode in single player. Deactivate vertical syncronization. Limit frames per second to 60.
Open the Terminal. Type this: "WINEPREFIX=/home/YOURUSERNAME/THEWINEPREFIXFOLDERCREATEDBYLUTRISFORYOURGAME winetricks -q wmp11". You won't have to wait now, since you won't download anything, just install wmp11 again in the Wine prefix folder creadted by Lutris for your game.
Open Lutris. Configure your game. Change the Wine prefix folder of your OS, for the one created by Lutris for your game (/home/YOURUSERNAME/THEWINEPREFIXFOLDERCREATEDBYLUTRISFORYOURGAME), where wmp11 is also currently installed. Play.
For a clean installation: delete any folder named lutris, wine or winetricks inside /home/. Also delete any file named after wine in /home/.local./share/applications/. And also delete the Wine prefix folder made by Lutris, and your game installation folder made by you.
Pre-renered videos do not play by default
Starting a new game, the initial cutscene does not display properly. Switching to other proton versions(including GE) results in either an endless loading screen or the game failing to start.
I shouldn't have to do anything more with a game already labeled as "verified".
The stutter when opening doors or shooting your weapon is really bad. This is a shame because the game runs well otherwise.
Proton 7.05-5
Unexpected stutter/frame drops when opening doors or firing weapon.
This game appears to have run without stutter at some point (I assume an earlier version of Proton). But as it stands, the stutter/frame drops when opening doors or firing your weapon is quite bad. This game probably should not be makred as "Verified" on Steam given these problems on the Deck.
You need a Protontricks workaround in order to play the campaign, but otherwise it's playable.
PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC=150 RADV_PERFTEST=aco PROTON_FORCE_LARGE_ADDRESS_AWARE=1 PROTON_USE_D9VK=1 %command%
You need to install either wmp9 or wmp11. They both work fine.
There's a lot of intermittent stuttering in this game, usually when going through doors or firing on enemies. It's annoying at times, but it doesn't make the game unplayable.
You need to install wmp9 or wmp11 in order to be able to play the campaign. Raid mode seems to work fine without it, though I only played for a few minutes.
As others have mentioned, you need to revert to an older version of Proton before you install the game, otherwise protontricks won't be able to install wmp. Any version from 5.0-10 and older is fine. What they haven't mentioned is that if you've already installed the game before selecting an older Proton and need to delete and reinstall, you may need to delete the game's compatdata folder manually after you uninstall the game. If it's still there when you reinstall, then the protontricks workaround won't work, even with an older version of Proton.
剛開始玩遊戲不久,就嚴重卡頓,像是開槍後,整個畫面不動好幾秒,再之後開門,雖然不至於畫面完全不動,但是還是嚴重卡頓,超不順。
Set in-game framerate cap to 60
For anyone wanting to use the RERevFix mod to increase the FOV, you'll have to rename it's xinput1_3.dll to msacm32.dll and include it in the launch options with...
WINEDLLOVERRIDES="msacm32=n,b" %command%
Otherwise the xinput1_3.dll will interfere with Steam input and not recognize the controls.

Fatal error
The game itself is running awesome out of the box, but you will miss most of the story, because the missing Windows Media Player 11
Tried to install wmp11, but failed
The videos stop playing around Episode 6
According to other reports here, to enable the movies in the game, you need to switch to Proton 5.0-10 and install wmp11 with protontricks. Unfortunatelly the installation of wmp11 fails on Steam Deck, so you are not able to see any movie starting from Episode 6
The game runs awesome out of the box. Resolution is correct, shows correct buttons in tooltips and the default controls profile works nice.
PROTON_USE_D9VK=1 %command%
Some inicial slowdowns but it played well afterwards

Works perfectly with no issues aside from minor shader cache stutter (using a non steam version of the game) I finished the entire campaign.
No tinkering needed it ran flawlessly

For about 40% of the game, the cutscenes played without issue, but for the rest of the game, all the cutscenes were replaced with SMPTE colour bars, the cutscene would then cut out after a couple of seconds. This was extremely annoying since I missed most of the information in the game, I had to go to YouTube to view the cutscenes I missed.
The very last boss battle never started because the game would not move past the loading screen. I had to log in to Windows(for the first time in months), download the game, play the final boss battle, then delete the game and log back in to Fedora...very frustrating.
A minor issue was that there would be severe stuttering whenever a player would walk through a door, this cleared up in the second half of the game without any tinkering from me.
Apart from those three issues mentioned, the game played perfectly, but I can't imagine anyone enjoying an experience similar to mine, particularly because of the cutscene issue, most of what is going on in the game is explained during the cutscenes so if they don't play, you won't know what's going on.
Install wmp11 with winetricks

These launch options helped me reducing the stuttering.
The game opens fine out-of-the-box, but, you can't play the campaing, because it needs Windows Media Player 11 installed to be able to play the cutscenes.
Here are the steps to install wmp11
1- Before download, change the Proton version of the game to 5.0-10, and then, download the game.
2- After downloaded, open the game, (you can optionally adjust your settings, but don't click to play the campaing.)
3- Close the game, fireup a terminal, and type this command: protontricks 222480 -q wmp11 to download and install the wmp11 for the game prefix (if you don't have protontricks installed, follow up this tutorial on GitHub: https://github.com/Matoking/protontricks)
4- Wait for the wmp11 to be installed on the game prefix.
5- Next, you can change back the Proton version to the latest one (in my case, i will stay on 5.0-10 version, because i have a 144hz monitor, and on the latest Proton version i'm not able to set 144hz in game, it just goes up to 120hz)
6- Play! :-)
Audio from cutscenes is missing (I think is an isolated case from my part.) but this is a minor problem for me.
Optionally, if you have experiencing stuttering, paste this launch options (Right click on the game on Steam, Properties, General, Launch Options)
PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC=150 RADV_PERFTEST=aco PROTON_FORCE_LARGE_ADDRESS_AWARE=1 PROTON_USE_D9VK=1 %command%

These launch options reduced my stuttering.
You can open the game and tweak your settings (Video, Audio, etc) but you will not be able to play because it needs the Windows Media Player 11 to play the cutscenes.
Here the steps to install the wmp11
1- Before download the game, change Proton version to 5.0-10, and then, download the game.
2- After finished, you can open the game and tweak your settings. (Don't play the campaign.)
3- Close the game, fireup an terminal, and run this command: protontricks 222480 -q wmp11 (if you don't have protontricks installed, follow up this guide on GitHub: https://github.com/Matoking/protontricks)
4- After finished, you can close the terminal, and change back the Proton version to the most recent one. (in my case, i have to stay in 5.0-10, i have a 144hz monitor, and using the most recent version, i can just use 120hz, 5.0-10 works fine for me, going up to 144hz.)
5- Finally, open the game and play. :-)
Audio from cutscenes is missing (i think it is an isolated case from me) but it is not a problem, playing the game is the most important for me. :-)
If you are experiencing stuttering issues, use these launch options (Right click on the game in Steam, Properties, General, Launch Options) PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC=150 RADV_PERFTEST=aco PROTON_FORCE_LARGE_ADDRESS_AWARE=1 PROTON_USE_D9VK=1 %command%

PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC=150 RADV_PERFTEST=aco PROTON_FORCE_LARGE_ADDRESS_AWARE=1 PROTON_USE_D9VK=1 %command%
You must install wmp11 like other versions of Resident Evil 6/ Revelations 2 and 5,etc. WMP11 play all cinematics and menu of game
some lags in video but playable
Can't start the campaing, installing wmp11 using protontricks did not help
install wmp11 using protontricks add the following in the command option PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC=150 RADV_PERFTEST=aco PROTON_FORCE_LARGE_ADDRESS_AWARE=1 PROTON_USE_D9VK=1 %command%

Works well with some tinkering. Complete instructions are included.
This game would work out of the box if not for the need of wmp11 libraries from Windows. To install them, fallow the instructions below.
you'd use protontricks, but due to Proton 5.13 and later versions using symbolic link on their prefixes to save spaces (with the target being protected against writing), the installation fails to overwrite them. So you need to do this: 1: before installing, ensure you set it to Proton 5.0-9 on the compatibility tab. If you have it installed, uninstall it first. 2: run the game once, you can set options like resolution and antialiasing if you like. Don't start the campaign. 3: run protontricks -q wmp11
, wait for it to finish (lots of output, hopefully no "Permission Denied" errors and lots of deadbeef stub warnings). 4. On the properties/compatibility tab, change it to the current proton version, or just uncheck "Force the use of a specific Steam Play compatibility tool" and it will use the one in the general steam settings (hopefully the latest one). 5. Launch the game. At the time, everything should work. You should see the cutscenes and you can play the game. 6. If you use widescreen, there's an additional fix: edit (STEAM PREFIX)/steamapps/compatdata/222480/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/AppData/Local/CAPCOM/RESIDENT EVIL REVELATIONS/config.ini
and change the Resolution
field to the resolution of your monitor, then change Aspect
to DEFAULT
, then make this file read-only (chmod a-w (STEAM PREFIX)/steamapps/compatdata/222480/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/AppData/Local/CAPCOM/RESIDENT EVIL REVELATIONS/config.ini
, of course change (STEAM PREFIX)
to your game's steam prefix.
Does not finish loading without tinkering
protontricks 222480 -q wmp11
PROTON_VERSION='Proton 5.0' protontricks 222480 -q wmp11

Sometimes there are a quick lack in video
The Game installs and run at frist, but at the momment to play the game freeze and don't load the CGI. You must stop, and install the WMP11 to be able play the game. The easy way to install WMP11 is: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1760498189
- Download the WMP11-64 to WinXP
- Extract the cab File to generate two .exe files
- Install using protontricks ( you can use command line shell) and type "wine wfmdist11-64.exe" and after "wine wmp11-64.exe" in order to install WMP11 pack
- After this you can start the game and everthing will be fine, a CGI of Capther 1 will open and you can start the game!
Only works on the proton 5.0
I tried install on Proton 6.3-2 and 5.13-6 but don't worked. In Proton 5.0-10 and following the steps of another review (install protontricks 222480 -q wmp11), the game worked.
protontricks 222480 -q wmp11

The game doesn't work without WMP since it can't play the cut scenes.
The game need WMP to run, and all the replay on the internet about making an X32 prefix didn't work for me since it uses steam own prefix and its x64, and it will not let you install wmp on the x64 prefix, so what you have to do is to start the game the first time on Proton 5.0 and then use this command PROTON_VERSION="Proton 5.0" protontricks 222480 -q wmp9 it will let you install WMP9 on the steam x64 prefix.
The game works as good as on Windows as long as you run the "protontricks" command and add these two mentioned parameters.
I've used the parameter "PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC=150" in order to eliminate the audio crackling.
Got some stuttering, but solved it by using the parameter "RADV_PERFTEST=aco".
To successfully start a campaign, the game simply requires Windows Media Player 11 installed via: protontricks 222480 -q wmp11
During prerendered cutscenes audio crackling will occur. Use the following launch options to prevent this: PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC=150 %command%
