Game runs great right out of the box, nothing special required. I played a couple of hours with friends and one round of single player.
Games runs great. I also ran the dedicated server just fine.
I've played on both my Arch desktop and on the steam deck. Works out of the box with no issues!
Full screen has issues when switching to other applications.
Many updates to the game seem to break the default launcher for a bit. Until it's resolved I switch to the FFXIVQuickLauncher. The default launcher seems to run the game perfectly. However, in my experience the FFXIVQuickLauncher causes the game to stutter badly after about an hour of gameplay. I recommend sticking with the default launcher even though FFXIVQuickLauncher is superior in many ways. The issue occurs with or without the GE version of Proton.
Although the standard Proton versions work, I highly recommend that the GE version of Proton be used as it improves performance.
I played for roughly 5 hours online with friends using in-game voice chat. No issues
The game always hangs when you attempt to close it. It must be force killed to stop.
Textures are a hot mess
Game looks bad was able to get 50 - 60 FPS. Doesn't seem worse than Windows for similar hardware.
FSR makes everything but menus a black screen. Once disabled everything works. Also, only on this game my 6700XT GPU regularly throws a ring gfx_0.0.0 timeout and causes a GPU reset.
It seems like many people with AMD GPUS are having issues. I personally receive a GPU reset every 30 - 60 minutes. I've tried several amdgpu module options(runpm, gpu_recovery, and ppfeaturemask), mesa-git, and maxing out fans. I can't seem to avoid the GPU reseting. I was able to get enough up time to hunt all the monsters except Rey Dau (too long couldn't finish without a crash). Longest uptime achieved with "amdgpu.ppfeaturemask=0xffffbfff". Several threads on which features to enable/disable just tested this one (appears to be DS_FCLK).
Standard install without GE or anything. I've played about an hour, completing the intro mission(s). Great launch for Linux.
Game runs great!! I didn't play anyone else, but I received some challenges so far. Online seems to be working fine. I was able to connect a RadioMaster Zorro and configure using the in game controller configuration. Happy Flying!!!

The game has crashed for me about 3 times in ~22 hours. Appears to be unrelated to Linux.
Game runs great!! I did use Proton GE, but I suspect it will work out of the box. Pretty much install and play. I last played the original on Windows at the end of 2019, seems about as stable as it was then with a crash about once every 10 hours or so of gameplay.
The game stutters every time you see a new animation for the first time. I can confirm this occurs on Windows (not a Linux specific issue).
