Works perfectly with custom launch options
Had a small problem entering the restaurant once, but a game restart fixed it.
Runs perfectly out of the box.
VKD3D_CONFIG=force_bindless_tex_heap PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 gamemoderun %command%
Ocasionally the game freezes. You can hear the background noise, if you press "Esc" you can hear the menu opening up but screen is frozen. Ocasionally toggling window/fullscreen fixes it but not always.
When the game doesn't freeze it works perfectly.
PROTON_HIDE_NVIDIA_GPU=1 %command%
In order to prevent the game from freezing, I had to create a dxvk.conf file with the appropriate VRAM for my GPU.
- Finding out my VRAM
- Run
lxinfo | grep -E -i 'device|memory'
on the command line to find out your Dedicated video memory. In my case it says "Dedicated video memory: 10240 MB"
- Create the dxvk.conf file
- Go to your Diablo IV folder. In my case, that's in "/gamedrive/SteamLibrary/steamapps/common/Diablo IV/"
- Create a
dxvk.conf
text file - Inside the file, paste the memory restrictions. I used 9000MB, just to be save
dxgi.maxDeviceMemory=9000
dxgi.maxSharedMemory=9000
Game frequently froze when teleporting after a dungeon or so but hasn't happened since i added the dxvk.conf file.
Aside from the awful launcher, the game runs nicely. The performance is very nice and the battery lasts 6+ hours.
TDP at 10W
Launcher only works with touch screen, an hassle if you have the Steam Deck on the dock
When waking up from the sleep, the in-game controls would ocasionally not work. Steam deck responded fine but the character did not move.
Toggled the "Disable Frame Limit" to fix a major slowdown in the X-2 experience screen
"Disable frame limit" for X-2 and you'll have a great time. Save before putting the console to sleep, just in case.
Keyboard would ocasionally not work. After switching to old proton version it works perfectly.
Switch to Proton 8.0-5 and the game will run perfectly.
I would not recommend anyone playing with the frustration of trying to figure out when the game is going to crash.
Some text is blurred or too small
Noticeable framedrops sometimes
The game frequently crashes. You must lower the game's graphic settings due to a well known memory problem.
Steam Deck frequently crashed due to running out of memory, rendering the console completely unresponsive. You have to hard reset the console.
This game does not deserve the "Steam Deck Verified" badge and would recommend against playing it in a system without a ton of spare RAM.
Card text is often too small and the zoom function sometimes shows the card outside of the screen.
Gamepad controls are non-existing, it works like a mouse. Best to use the touch screen.
The game runs perfectly but the controls are god awful.
The game runs perfectly out of the box. Played it to 100% without a single issue. Not even a frame drop. This game deserves Platinum rating.
