Yes, the launcher is annoying, but it is functional on my Linux PC. If you aren't comfortable tinkering, just click through it.
I have used LAN Multiplayer and Cloud Play. LAN seemed great. Cloud Play was slow, but it seems slow for the native Windows player that I know, too, so that's not caused by Proton.
I switched on Proton Experimental, because I wanted to do network multiplayer with a native Windows user, and that requires us to both be running the same exact version of Civ VI.
An older version of Civ VI gets installed if you don't tinker. It works fine, if you're just doing local single player.
Flickering shadows when running the forest benchmark.
Crashed during single-player prologue. Locked up at start of my turn in multi-player map.
Other than the crashing, it worked fine. The crashes were common enough to be a deal-breaker, though.
It crashed, repeatedly, less than an hour into playing.
