Occasional crackling any time the mic picked up something.
With the config indicated in my post. I was able to play the game with heavy artifacting.
Windowing causes the game to freeze indefinitely. Fullscreen and borderless window work without issue.
Without the settings outlined in this post, I cannot play the game. It functions as a slide show.
At the time of this post, the game has just released in Early Access. I'm looking forward to future updates that will hopefully bring additional stability. I'll be checking in regularly and tinkering to see if I can get this in a usable state.
An opening logo video didn't load properly and I received the testing broadcast screen with the bars of various colors. Besides that minor frame dips occasionally in the opening. No other issues so far.
Minor stutter, I believe associated with rendering the "speed" texture fighting a boar. After initial stutter did not repeat.
Had to enable proton experimental to play.
Random stuttering fighting a boar.
Need to disable steam overlay, without that change the game wouldn't make it past the initial cutscene upon starting story mode.
Make sure to disable the steam overlay and you'll be fine.
Non-technical users may find this title difficult to play despite the little troubleshooting required to play it.
Just toggled inverted vertical joystick
Some text is scaled off screen until resolution is corrected
The game wants 1920x1080 resolution and is starting in windowed mode. Default resolution makes things appear offscreen until you fix the in game resolution.
The game runs well. It's sad to see this great game get a silver rating because the dev's opted for windowed 1080p as the default settings, instead of borderless + dynamic resolution assignment.
Looking for a work around/fix for the suspended state issue, will update if I fix. This is the tap and hold the screen, press the steam button, release your finger and finally press the steam button again to allow the game to return to a resumed state without constantly pressing the screen.
To correct the resolution issues I had, I followed the steps below.
- Booted the game, closed the game via Steam Button > Z.O.E. Title Menu > Exit Game
- Went to the cog wheel on the games library steam page.
- Properties > General > Game Resolution
- Changed from Default to 1920x1080
- Launched the Game
- Went to the in game options
- Display > Resolution > 1366x768
- Display > Windowed Mode > Borderless Fullscreen
- Saved settings, closed game.
- Restarted the game, ran without issue.
