PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
With or without tinkering - depends on the system I guess. My system needs launch option PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command% for every game, others might not. It takes a few seconds anyway, not much tinkering involved :)
It wouldn't start without Wine D3D on my system. The command for launch options: PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
3D match representation doesn't work on my system, but 2D and everything else works great.
I wasn't able to start the game, tried multiple Proton releases and launch options
Tried multiple Proton releases (5.13-6, 6.3-5, Experimental) including Proton-5.21-GE-1 and the latest Proton-6.14-GE-2. Also tried multiple launch options with each Proton release. No luck. Game refunded, at least FM20 still works.

Significant stutter was present when I changed screen size (either fullscreen or other resolution of windowed). Works OK with default setting, if I don't touch anything.
Low framerate
Doesn't start.
I tried multiple Proton versions and launch options. Settings that work with most other games don't help in this case.

Regarding thinker report - it depends on the system I guess. I always need launch option PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%, maybe others don't. It's not a problem either way.

With my system it needs launch option PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command% to start.
Tried my usual launch options, and without them. Tried default, experimental, the latest Proton version (8.0-4), GE8-3 and GE8-25.

I had some random crashes with the default Proton setting, GE fixed that.
