It kind of ran on 5.0-10 but not for long
I was able to do the tutorial but nothing else
Used to work but doesn't anymore
PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command% NOSPLASHPRELOAD
I tried all the different lauch options I could find, every proton version available back to 7 and nothing worked. There's a consistant directx9 error that pops up.
It's not an issue with proton, but with the game itself. Each mission is about 20 - 40 min and that's about how often it crashes.
gamemoderun %command% -USEALLAVAILABLECORES
Very rare crackling
Every 20 - 30 min it crashes. On Windows it's every 1 - 5 min. No crash dumps on linux but on Windows they show a consistant memory access violation (null pointer, C++) likely coming from the discontinued game engine being used (Stingray).
Reducing graphics quality to Medium and disabling all post-processing / volumetric fx seems to help but it could be placebo.
Works with no issues. If I didn't know it was only released for windows and mac, I'd think it was native.
Joining or rejoining a session is really difficult and can fail 7/8 times or 3/4 depending on how the game is feeling, haha.
Occasional stuttering that last less than 2 seconds
3/4 times trying to join a friends game or trying to rejoin a session I'm unable to; seems like a timeout problem maybe. Rarely I'll be unable to jump or my HUD will go away. Usually it's fixed after restarting the game, but then I'm faced with the first issue listed, big time sink overall but still technically "works".
When the EA launcher updates the next launch fails. Have to backup save manually and reinstall.
Gameplay music will play over building mode music
After reinstalling, saved games are erased
Whenever the EA launcher updates there's a crash
EA launcher barely works after install and is so completely BORKED after it automatically updates. Do we really have to reinstall every time we open this game?
EA needs to stop making things harder for everyone. Support steam save backup, let us launch just the game without your launcher and I'll buy your DLC.
