Runs OK with minor issues. BattlEye does not work in Proton though.
Minor dot/hatch artifacts in distant reflections on water.
Game freezes for a split-second every so often -- sometimes in fights, sometimes when looking a far distance -- regardless of graphics settings. Still very playable though.
I had one crash-on-exit after a very long session. Otherwise, no issues.
BattlEye installation fails. Game runs without it, though.
I've connected to (non-BattlEye) servers OK, but have yet to interact with anyone on them.
Minor stuttering in one of the intro logo movies. Otherwise, no problems at all.
I haven't tried multiplayer yet. Not expecting BattlEye to work; I'll update if it does.
Launch option gamemoderun %command%
(suggested by others) made the Funcom launcher fail to launch; it just dumped me back in Steam as if I hadn't even tried to run the game. Reverting the launch options to a blank line -- and selecting a specific Proton version (9.0-2) -- made it work.
Audio is disabled by default. I had to enable it in the launcher settings.
Alt-Tab in fullscreen would crash the game. Workaround was to launch it windowed and right-click the title bar > Fullscreen (as suggested by others).
I'm also using the launch flag PROTON_FORCE_LARGE_ADDRESS_AWARE as suggested by another user. No stability issues yet.

Very minor issue: saves load fine, but the preview picture in the menu is scrambled multicolored garbage. Not sure if that's Linux or just an old game on a modern system...

Game runs well on default Proton, after installing the K-Lite codec pack via Protontricks. (Details below)
K-Lite codecs required
Out of the box, movies are black screens, with audio but no video.
Following FluffyPotato's advice, I found the K-Lite codec pack online, then downloaded the installer .exe.
Then ran "protontricks --gui
" -> selected the game -> default wineprefix -> "Run explorer". Then navigated to the downloaded .exe in there, and ran it.
In the installer, I selected the codecs, deselected everything that didn't look necessary, then exited once it installed.
Game now runs its movies perfectly. 😎
Wouldn't load on default Proton settings. But choosing seemingly ANY specific Proton version makes it work. (Thus using current 8.0-5.)
With no tinkering, the game would pop up a loading progress bar window for a bit, then crash back to Steam and the desktop.
But set it to seemingly ANY specific Proton version in the settings list, and it loads just fine, no issues at all. (Thus I'm using 8.0-5, the most recent non-experimental Proton in my list at present. Which for some reason isn't listed in the report's pulldown.)
Framerate and GPU fan noise seem consistent with in-game graphics settings and what my hardware can do.
I still haven't played far into the game yet, though -- died before I could set up a shelter to save. I'll post an update later if I have trouble, though. 😎
Runs great as-is, 60+ hrs so far
Loading a save can be a little slow, but the changelog mentions that at the bottom. Install to SSD definitely recommended!

Game seems to run fine now on Proton Experimental. I'll post again if I find any trouble further into the game.
