other people seem to crash after cinematics, I tried specifically testing that, but it didn't cause me any issues.
tried running proton beta 3.16-3 and stable 3.7-8, with dx9 and 11, there aren't any obvious differences between dx 11 and 9, other than dx11 not working on 3.7-8.
there are occasional random crashes, and loading some of the maps (notably the mines) will crash the game (a bunch of files apparently go missing?) otherwise peformance is "good" but with very obvious lagspikes every few minutes. Still very much playable imo.
I played from the beginning until around the end of act 3, and that all seemed playable. I didn't find anything that would outright not work.
The issue is that the game will frequently crash, and there doesn't seem to be any rhyme nor reason to it. All I can say is it seems loading more areas accelerate the crashing, and you can kinda tell when it's about to happen based on how much text, or how many textures get corrupted (it's like watching an int overflow on the NES)
performance was steady 60FPS aside from loading new areas, and a dash ability that seemed to cause a lag spike. Nothing to complain about really. I had the game running in DX9 mode most of the time as DX11 wouldn't work, and DX9ex apparently is more buggy than DX9 (I couldn't really tell a major difference when I was testing)
additionally I ran with these arguments, they seem to make the game crash somewhat less frequently. --waitforpreload --nologo --nodx9ex --gc2
some sound effects stop abruptly leading to a popping sound
as far as I know the occasional crashing also happens on windows. Just remember to save every so often and you'll be fine
without Large Address Aware the game would sometimes crash at launch with an out of memory exception, and all textures would be corrupted.
only real issue is the audio bug where characters don't have voice-lines which can't be fixed on SE from what I've understood (I tried anyway but it didn't do anything)
other than that the game will sometimes crash for me if I play for more than ~4 hours straight, but that's likely a bug in the game itself
I haven't tested with mods. (the in-game modportal doesn't work for me however.)
