Runs absolutely perfectly with no tinkering required. All max settings at 1440p and runs with a smooth framerate, no hitches, no graphical errors, and not a single crash in my entire playtime so far. Flawless performance and not only a great example of gaming on Linux but also what should be the gold standard of PC ports.
This game is incredible and I highly recommend everyone give it a shot!
Flawless Performance For Entire Playthrough
Not too much to say here other than the game runs great and is tons of fun! Played through entirety of the main story missions with zero issues on max settings and using an Xbox One controller. 10/10 Linux Compatibility.
Despite Some Server Limitations, The Game IS Now Playable On Linux
As of the recent Anniversary update, multiplayer works with a caveat; I wasn't able to join any of the newly-added dedicated servers (As soon as I saw the loadout screen I would immediately receive a "You were kicked from the server" message) but if I host my own server I can play just fine against bots and other players. A player on my friends list was able to accept my invite and play with me with no issues. I have chatted with a member of the Dev team on their posts about Linux compatibility specifically in regards to EAC issues and they are aware of it and do plan to have a solution at some point so that's worth mentioning here too.
Setting the multiplayer issues aside, the game ran incredibly well once I was actually in a match which is a huge step up from the previous patch where the game wouldn't even boot for me after throwing an EAC detection error on startup. At 1440p max settings I was getting a buttery smooth framerate with no graphical issues, no hitching, no audio problems, or anything else of note. If they can just smooth out the EAC issues and allow Linux players to join dedicated server matches this game could easily earn a Platinum rating!
Game runs perfectly; no issues in over 60 hours of Linux gameplay. I was expecting to run into problems or quirks but it has run the same if not better than it did in my first 40 hours on Windows.

Getting better performance here than I did on the same hardware on Windows even without gamemode. Gamemode is the only tinkering I've done and isn't even necessary. Recommend!
Yet Another Game That Runs Great On Linux
I did have two separate crashes during my playthrough but nothing that would indicate that it's a platform issue.
Game definitely suffers from some jankiness but as above, this is largely because it's an early access game that while good, probably could've used a few more months in the oven.
Did my entire playthrough in co-op and surprisingly had no issues at all. No random disconnects, no desync, nothing out of the ordinary.
Sometimes I think people forget that the purpose of ProtonDB is to report on the compatibility and performance of a game on Linux and not necessarily a review of the game itself. SOTF was decently fun and overall I enjoyed my short sprint through what content is there, and the game ran great for the majority of the time. As I mentioned earlier I did have two separate CTDs but I'm almost positive that's just because of general EA lack of polish issues and not at all tied to OS. If you're looking for a new survival title to pick up, give it a shot!
Perfect Performance Using Proton!
Multiplayer works great. No connection issues or anything out of the ordinary.
Using Proton Experimental. Obviously my rig is massive overkill for a game of this age; regardless it runs great with no compatibility issues or other problems throughout an entire campaign playthrough and several hours of multiplayer. Performance is equal to or greater than Windows.
