The game seems to be working fine now (I already had Proton EAC Runtime installed). I just went through the tutorial using a controller and graphics settings on high, with no stutters or other problems.
Long time without playing any NFS game. Used to like it very much, but without the controller, it's a no-go.

I tried with other Proton versions. The controller worked once with a different (old ?) launcher, but after the EA Launcher force install the game didn't recognize the controller anymore. So, if somebody knows a way please do tell.
Without controller support it's not fun.
It hangs and crashes to the desktop when starting the campaign.

The cut scene after the "deploy" stutters always at the same point, and then it hangs and crashes to the desktop when starting the campaign. I also tried with GE-proton8-13 and ESYNC/FSYNC combination and got the same results.

Last time I tried, I couldn't get started with the campaign. It's working fine now using the latest GE-Proton8.
Clicking “PLAY” the status changes to “update executable” for a while and stops launching

There's a possible fix in the discussions for this problem, but apparently it only works on Windows. Tried the launching command suggestions from here with no success.
