Game itself works very well. Xbox Live login not working though.
Xbox Live login not working, so no access to event rewards.
Not working with AMD GPU on Linux
All that happens is a popup window telling me that my drivers are outdated and/or my GPU is not supported.
Had no problems on Windows (except for the usual performance issues the game has anyway). So it's not that my graphics card couldn't handle the game, but the game probably just fails to recognize it properly and won't even try to launch as a result.
Would be nice if it offered some sort of "try anyway" option.
MESA_EXTENSION_OVERRIDE=GL_AMD_gpu_shader_half_float %command%
Got it to launch now, but massive visual glitches make the game basically unplayable.
Frequent random crashes. In most cases I can't even play a full match.
Crashes far too often. Couldn't find a combination of commands and Proton version to fix this.
Native version had artifacts at the bottom of the screen and was prone to crash occasionaly. Significantly better performance and stability when using Proton.
Just download the installer exe, add it as a non-Steam game and start it. When executing the Gw2Setup-64.exe you will be promted to select an installation directory. The program recognizes the Linux directory structure, but insists on including an initial drive letter (usually Z:), causing it to be installed only as temporary files. Just rename "Gw2Setup-64.exe" to "Gw2-64.exe". This will start the client right away, installing everything to the folder it is currently located in.
FPS can be a little low depending on the map and the amount of stuff that is happening, but the same issue is present on Windows. Some Proton versions might provide better performance than others.
Works out of the box
Motion blur can't be disabled for some reason.
Small input delay. Noticeable, but not problematic. Cursor is sometimes a little off (e.g. when using sliders).
gamemoderun %command%
Had to switch to 8.0-5. Other Proton versions did not work for me.
Works well with Proton 6.3-8
Tabbing out of exclusive fullscreen causes the game to crash. Borderless window works well.
Thumbnail images of custom tanks are not displayed.
Works very well. Depending on your setup and distro you might have to include launch options
Tabbing out of exclusive fullscreen forced the game into window mode and fullscreen couldn't be re-entered.
SDL_VIDEO_MINIMIZE_ON_FOCUS_LOSS=0 %command% fixed it.
I'm using a 21:9 screen and in borderless window mode I couldn't click on anything on the right side of the screen that is beyond the 16:9 area. No such problems in fullscreen.
No major issues
Cursor was sometimes invisible after scene transitions. Always rappeared right after alternative input via keyboard.
Occasional crashes, otherwise great
Fortunately - unlike in the original game - there is the possibility to save freely at any time. I would reccommend to make use of that just in case.
gamescope -W 2560 -H 1080 -f -- gamemoderun %command%
Game window would appear on wrong screen.
Cursor wouldn't stick to window.
You should use gamesope if you have a multi-screen setup.
