REITROP 2, LE RETOUR
Published
Finished the whole campaign, and played a few multiplayer matches. The game runs perfectly fine, performances are good (not compared with Windows) and everything just works out of the box without any tweak using a Xbox 360 controller.
Finished the game almost entirely on Linux, without any flaw or performance issue.
The only thing worth noting is that with my AMD graphics card, I had to install the proprietary driver, as the open source version had the framerate capped at 30 FPS while V-Sync was on, and all graphical effect were not turned on despite everything is the menu set to ultra.
As soon as the proprietary driver was installed, all these issues vanished, and the game was the same as on Windows 10. Didn't try with a controller.
Finished the whole game on Linux. Is perfectly playable with impressive performance (although cinematics could be problematic if graphics are set too high, with lags that create a gap between audio and video). Only two issues to notice: one minor, is that videos in the skill section of customization are not loading, so you can't see the skill you are buying in action (but can still test it), the other more important because the final cinematic at the end of the game doesn't play. So you can't see the end, and the game doesn't register the fact that you finished it (regarding achievements).
Continued a game started on Windows, which says that Steam Cloud is working. Performances are excellent, except on minor issue with menus. Their background was either buggy, or just black. Tweaking graphical options in the main menu didn't change anything. Menus are still fully usable in both cases, just less pretty than in Windows where the galaxy map is blurred in the background.
No problem whatsoever
Played from start to finish without the shadow of an issue. I used the keyboard and was able to remap keys to my needs.
Framerate so low it’s unbearable.
Framerate is divided by two or three compared to what I experience on Windows with same settings.
Nothing to tune to make it work. Performance is OK though not spectacular. Had to set my Logitech G29 to PS3 mode to make it work, but then everything's functional including force feedback.
The game runs perfectly with a wired PS4 controller. However, I had to set Proton to 4.2 as 4.11 make the controller mad. Xbox 360 controller never worked.
Game is stuck trying to install .NET Framework, and won't launch even after waiting for like 20 minutes.
mangohud %command%
The game expects a monitor with a refresh rate of 60 Hz. So I had to use MangoHUD to cap the frame rate at 60 (my monitor goes up to 144).
Like some others, the game is frozen at start. You have to hold left mouse click to keep it running. Holding left mouse, alt-tabing, releasing left mouse then alt-tabing back to the game solves the problem.
Also, I think my mouse is drifting after quitting the game.
As the mod to put Japanese voices is just a matter of copy-pasting files, it’s works perfectly on Linux.
