Custom Launch options: VK_ICD_FILENAMES=/usr/share/vulkan/icd.d/radeon_icd.x86_64.json PROTON_USE_VKD3D=1 PROTON_USE_WINE_DXGI=1 PROTON_LOG=1 %command%
You will need to change the VK_ICD_FILENAMES to reflect your preferred Vulkan driver. The one above selects the default RADV driver for Radeon.
While it is possible to get AotS running with Proton-4.2 the performance of DX11 on Radeon is very poor. Using Proton-5.9-GE-5.ST, VKD3D and the DXI fix will result in much smooth gameplay, and you get a much better looking game into the bargain.
This method will allow you to select DirectX 12 and get the full performance this game is capable of. You may have to use Protontricks to set the WINE version to Windows 10, but I found it already set by GE Proton (I think).
Xbox controller support was flawless. Graphics were smooth.
Scenes might be slow on first play as shaders compile in the background. Run the benchmark to force them to compile.
A very simple fix is required.
In a console window CD to the directory for GOTY Enhanced rename the Launcher: "mv Launcher.exe Launcher.exe.bak" Link to the game EXE: "ln -s BorderlandsGOTY.exe Launcher.exe"
This is better than re-naming the EXE as others have suggested.
Flawless experience. Easy install, no tweaking. In-game VSYNC disabled in favour of ESYNC/FSYNC.
I didn't test in-game voice chat.
After disabling ESYNC this game just works. Great performance, clear audio, responsive controls.
The fix is trivially easy. Game is definitely Gold now. Were proton to include the above fix it would be Platinum.
post install run : mkdir steamapps/compatdata/359320/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/Local\ Settings/Application\ Data/Elite\ Dangerous\ Launcher_evidencehere
The exact folder will depend on where you installed Elite.
This game just works, and works well.
As always, performance is better with the latest GE Proton, but it's not essential.

Online is essential, and it works. Works surprisingly well. The Epic graphical preset was a little too much, High was great at 3440x1440.
In the state I found it the graphics and audio were flawless, but the input weirdness rendered the game effectively unplayable.
launch option: RADV_PERFTEST=aco gamemoderun %command%
Input was mostly fine, but would occasionally get really behind, and then try and catch up, often running me off of cliffs, etc.
I had to start the game without progressive patching enabled. Once it had loaded all files I was able to turn on the fly patching back on and get into the game.
I tried every setting I could, reducing acceleration, changing to a software pointer over a hardware one, etc.
I don't have these issues with any other Proton or Lutris games. I play other online Multiplayer games and have never had issues like this.
It is very easy to install GE Proton builds. Do not use DirectX, use the beta Vulkan implementation.
5.9-GE-5-ST GloriousEggroll
Use GE Build of Proton
Enable shader Pre-Caching in Steam. Let the shaders build in the background before you play.
DirectX/DXVK was not playable. The beta Vulkan setting works just fine.
The game runs fine, once the launch settings are set correctly, but without a fix for the multiplayer issues you're stuck fighting bots.
Set launch options to:
PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 %command%
I could not get logged into Games for Windows Live. This renders the game unplayable online.
