*D9VK - Decreased stuttering slightly and fixed a random system crash when entering the Kitchen. *Disabling Esync & Enabling LAA - Helped with shader loading and made loading screens smoother. *Feral Gamemode - Decreased stuttering significantly.
Main menu doesn't display
When I open the game with Proton w/ D9VK the game opens to a black screen and the menu music starts playing. If I open the game w/o D9VK the the same thing occurs except a region of the screen is a distorted, multicolored mess.
To fix mousewheel issues where mouse scrolls are registered as mouse4 and mouse5:
In the directory /steamapps/common/Half-Life rename "libSDL2-2.0.so.0" to "libSDL2-2.0.so.0"(Or anything else that you want) to force the game to use your systems SDL instead of the packaged game SDL.
The game runs perfectly. Out of game tweaks: Fully disable mouse acceleration as it persists in-game even if it's disabled on the desktop, also disable compositing through the launch options by adding "xfconf-query -c xfwm4 -p /general/use_compositing -s false; %command%; xfconf-query -c xfwm4 -p /general/use_compositing -s true"
The game starts perfectly but there are constant stutters even though the framerate is very high.
The addition of Easy Anti-Cheat broke the game on Linux
As of 09/15/20, the game no longer works through Proton.
The game starts and runs normally like with W10 but the window isn't resizable and the process has to be killed to actually close the game.
My F310 refuses to work with the game.
The game is super smooth, even at max details(minus Nvidia HairWorks of course). The game stays at a solid 60FPS with no major dips even with a lot of entities on the screen.
The game runs a lot smoother through Proton than the native release, which ends up being at or very close to Windows level. Using Feral Gamemode helps reduce the random stutters but they still occur, likely due to shader caching. The process also has to be killed after the game closes. Without stuttering and having to kill the process the game would easily be Platinum.
