a little bit of tinkering with the controllers, but that's the game's fault, not Proton's
The game wouldn't open at first. I hit 'Play', and the game wouldn't open at all. I had to go to the System Monitor, and manually kill the 'DXSETUP' process, and THEN the game opened. I had no issues after that.
Like I said... if the game is not opening at all, try killing the DXSETUP process, and then the game may open. Worked for me.
with Proton Experimental, the game crashed in my first game. I switched to Proton 8.0, and that worked.
Proton Experimental crashed for me. Proton 8.0 worked perfectly for me. YMMV
Only thing I had to do was: set it to Proton Experimental manually. After that, the game ran perfectly!
Switching to Proton Experimental is all it took to make this game run (because, well, if I didn't, I wouldn't've been able to install it in the first place). Absolutely no problems after that!
eval $( echo "%command%" | sed "s/2KLauncher\/LauncherPatcher.exe'.*/Base\/Binaries\/Win64Steam\/CivilizationVI'/" )
Audio played on a different device than the rest of my system. Had to go to the audio settings and switch to the speakers for it to actually sound.
With the native version, there was a mouse offset that was VERY annoying. The solution? Force Proton Experimental. That's what worked for me. The default that Proton uses didn't work for me. Proton Experimental got rid of the issue.
Having to force Proton Experimental is annoying. And having to put the code I mentioned before so that it doesn't run the 2K launcher (which is totally not needed) is annolying as well.
