Dead space? More like Dead Game
Tried multiple different proton versions, many different launch options, updated my drivers, nothing works.
Doesn't work no matter what I do. Tried various proton versions, various launch options, tried to update my GPU drivers to 525 version, nothing works, pretty much without a change. Opens a black window and either crashes right away or attempts to fetch my inactive Intel GPU instead of the main Nvidia GPU, shows error report and then crashes. To top it off I got F'd by anti tampering software telling me to try again in 24H. Ain't got time for that, getting a refund. They can stick their anti tamper up their you know what.
Had to switch Proton versions multiple times only to find "Steam Linux Runtime" to work best.
Occasional slight stutter in the menu screen.
Occasionally the game appears to stutter a bit, nothing too dramatic or heavily disturbing.
Running various Proton versions resulted in more or less immediate crash either during loading screens or straight in the game. Eventually forced compatibility settings to "Steam Linux Runtime" and had a smooth gaming experience, no more serious issues, all works great. On first start Vulcan shaders took forever to process.
Elite performance. Click and play, it's that easy.
Great game, runs smooth, no issues anywhere.
In my opinion with Proton 7.0-1 the game (for now) runs better on Linux than it does on Windows.
Installed protontricks, installed dotnet48
Used -skipintro in Launch Options. It was necessary to reinstall the game after the Warfare update. The game seems to me to be written somewhat aggressively (or something like that... it just seems to hate everything sometimes) so it does tend to break after updates.
With Linux Mint Cinnamon it's possible to get back to desktop while playing, use following steps:
- ESC to enter menu,
- Shift+Tab to open Steam,
- Press the Super (windows) button,
- Press Terminal icon in the popup menu,
- Do what you need, now you're (somewhat) in desktop (I usually launch Firefox and play something on the background)
Launcher started greyed out, game was not playable. Tutorial on how to fix this with Wine at the end of the report.
Upon initial start menu was greyed out, game was not playable. Had to tinker a lot to get it going.
Follow this link because solution is too long for Proton DB Concluding Notes: https://www.reddit.com/r/linux_gaming/comments/yyqmxn/the_elder_scrolls_iv_greyed_out_launcher_options/ Let's hope nobody deletes that Reddit post.
