Steam overlay and controllers don't work
The 2-4 Steam Controllers I connected show up in the game's controls settings, but they all perform inputs for the first player in-game, making local multiplayer impossible. Also, the button prompts all show keyboard keys despite using solely controller input. The Steam overlay (whether standard or Big Picture) doesn't work as well, which seems related.
Native version crashed on input, Proton version works perfectly
For me, there were no slowness issues the previous review mentioned
Duplicated input issues
Inputs are duplicated, as I've found with ClusterPuck 99, Genital Jousting, and Party Golf. This makes the game unplayable as a local multiplayer title.
Seems to work, although I didn't play much. The Enhanced Edition has native support, so I never really play this version.
The game's clock seems to be based on FPS, so I had to install libstrangle and add strangle 60 %command%
to the game's launch options to make it playable. It's a bizarre experience at 144 Hz.
Works great
As mentioned previously, the phone input method isn't available. This uses a port on your PC to advertise the game to devices on your LAN, and I'm guessing Wine doesn't translate the necessary networking features properly. Controllers work very well.
Duplicated input issues
Like some other games (ClusterPuck99 and Genital Jousting) with eight-player XInput support, inputs are duplicated, making the game pretty much unplayable since it's local multiplayer.
No issues, indistinguishable from native
Use the native version. It performs just as well and doesn't crash.
Crashed about 15 minutes into the game. Native version never crashed over several hours.
In the native version, I had to go to the controls menu and switch between keyboard and controller to get the game to detect my controller.
Works perfectly with Proton now, no crashes after 30 min
The native version didn't detect my controller and always opened windowed. Forcing Proton fixed both of these issues. Forcing D9VK might improve performance, but I didn't really feel the need to try it.
Tutorial images is the only issue
As others have mentioned, the tutorial billboard images don't show up.
The game properly detected my controller ahead of my keyboard, which is rare for a Proton game.
