Latest proton experimental fixes crash from the EA overlay
Works without issues
It just works. If you'd like to skip the launcher that asks you to choose which version of Direct X you can throw %command% -dx12 to the launch options but that's only for convenience as the game doesn't require any tweaking to run.
It just works
I'm seeing a lot of reports about tinkering steps and the like but they really aren't needed. The game works without issue (at least without issues that aren't just game issues even on Windows) straight out of the box, great performance, stable etc. You can add launch options for quality of life improvements like skipping the pointless launcher but they aren't required to just run the game. Steps to get working:
- Download the game
- Install the game
- Press Play
- Enjoy the game
-adapter 1
Either disable the igpu in the bios or add "-adapter 1" to the launch command or the game will default to the igpu and run extremely slowly on a weak igpu. Once it's running on the right card, it runs like a dream.
No tweaks needed, works straight out of the box. I upped the FSR to balanced from ultra performance as the performance difference was negligible but the quality at ultra performance is really poor.
EA added a kernel level anti-cheat making the game completely unplayable
Need to be in desktop mode the first time loading up the game in order to show the Microsoft login, it will just show a black screen otherwise in gaming mode.
Inconsistent frame times that are resolved by locking the frame rate on the deck.
Works relatively well but has some micro stuttering
The game works well out of the box, the only issues is the performance is a little lower than in Windows and I experience very slight micro stutters in game. I see them on multiple PCs and the Steamdeck, they're not game breaking but do make the game "feel" less smooth. I find locking the framerate in game makes them barely noticeable (the game does this by default anyway, I just don't recommend changing it to "unlocked")
Performance just isn't a good experience. While frame gen bumps up the fps it doesn't feel good, is inconsistent and high latency.
It's just too much for the Deck
Works flawlessly
Loads without issues, great performance, nothing extra to configure.
Highly recommend switching to gyro controls. The default gamepad controls work fine but you'll be in the PC pool without aim assist and will get smoked. The standard gamepad + gyro template works fine but it will make the icons constantly switch between keyboard and gamepad. I use a modified layout with all buttons mapped to keys and joystick mouse and it works really well.
