Runs like a dream on my high-end machine. Solid 90fps from the in-game limiter and hdr works on KDE Plasma 6.
DXVK_HDR=1 gamescope -W 3840 -H 2160 -f --hdr-enabled %command%
Requires GE-Proton due to video codec issues, but otherwise runs like a dream. I haven't experienced the crashing or performance issues the Steam reviews mention but I'm still early on.
Command line options are for HDR at 4k with gamescope.
Required Proton 6.3-8 in order to get to the main menu. But otherwise runs like it does on Windows.
Rough on launch, but running practically natively now!
Occasional "Summoning failed." messages while trying to summon. Happened to me on older souls titles on Windows, so I don't think it's platform specific.
Steam defaulted this game to Proton experimental for me. I'm not sure if that's the real default, but on a new distro install, and having to enable steam play for all titles, that's what was selected.
VKD3D translation layer and Mesa 22 seems to do an incredible job at elimating stutters and stabilze performance that are present in the Windows version.
Works perfectly on my machine! Tested on a RTX 2070 and 6700xt. Performance is not the best, but it's like that on Windows too. 🤷
If you enjoyed the brawler Yakuza titles, you'll definitely enjoy this spin-off series.
Works great with default settings. All settings set to Very High gave me around 80-100 fps at 1440p.
Game includes FSR 1.0 and FSR 2.0, but I had them disabled.

Two instances of transparent textures being fully black (Parking Lot tire tracks, and a certain arcade.) As well as window/car rain overlay textures displaying incorrectly.
Turn VSync off to fix any fps limiting issues. This will fix speed issues in mini-games, and the fps limiter in general.
I really enjoyed my 32 hours of this game. Highly reccommend it, despite the super minor graphical defects.
Runs beautifully at 1440p @ 120hz.
Had to swap to Proton 7.0-6 (since I had it on experimental by default) but works great with little to no performance issues even on dx12.
A relatively good experience, but has some minor issues that will hopefully be ironed out.
Tried Proton Experimental / Proton 7, no differences.
Noticed this in a two spots on the Original Judgment. But certain transparent textures are fully black. (Kamurochō parking lot's tire marks for example.)
Turn VSync off to fix any fps limit / speed issues on high refresh rate displays. With VSync on FPS limiters do not work (at least on my machine.), and in fact increase the game speed. Turning the FPS Limiter to "Unlimited" fixes this, but causes issues in mini-games. With VSync off, the FPS Limiter functions correctly, and mini-games work with "Unlimited" setting.
So far this game has been an absolute delight.
I played about an hour of it on Windows 11, and 3 on Kubuntu (Wayland), and barely noticed the change.
Issues getting Origin installed. Mostly kept restarting steam until it successfully did so. After that everything was gravy.
If you love the original games, or if you're able to handle some jank you'll love STALKER 2.
Game has performance issues, sets presets to EPIC despite that not going well. I recommend FSR Balanced over TSR. No framegen needed with my specs.
Game crashed during shader compilation step. Turns out steam didn't unpack the game correctly so a file integrity verification fixed that up. Other than that I've had some crash, but nothing since.
It's like they made STALKER again, but slightly more modern. Still punishing, maybe a weeee biiiitttt too dark at night, and those tutorial pop-ups (which you can disable) are a touch annoying but it's STALKER is definitely back.
Of course your milage may vary, so if you're on the fence maybe wait for a few patches, but this is definitely WAY better than what the original STALKER games were like at launch.
-1 points for no flashlight shadows though.
