It ran perfectly fine, as if it was ran natively on windows, I didnt get too far into the game but as far as I saw there were no issues.
If you have much better hardware than me this'll run perfectly fine out of the box as far as I can see.
gamemoderun %command%
given my hardware being the bare minimum the game runs at a consistent 45-55 fps on medium-low settings.
Using GE made it much more playable as using exprimental or proton9 led to no cutscenes working which made it impossible to do anything after finishing a match, I highly recommend using GE and using gamemode may or may not boost performance.
Overall as long as you use GE the game should run perfectly fine out of the box.
On steam it is very poor, it works but I cannot go into full screen and i am stuck on 1080x720 resolution but works perfectly on OpenMW.
As I mentioned in my summary, on OpenMW it works perfectly, full screen works great, you are not locked on a specific resolution and there is more variety in terms of graphical and gameplay options, I highly recommend playing it using OpenMW and not through proton.
Vanilla game ran perfectly, I could even alt-tab which sometimes used to break skyrim SE on windows 10.
I modded the game using the following github link: https://github.com/rockerbacon/modorganizer2-linux-installer.
I was able to install a handful of mods, audio, graphical and gameplay mods without any issues whatsoever, If my memory serves me right it even ran better than windows 10 with mods due to the lack of background system usage from the operating system.
Worked perfectly out of the box, even faster and more stable than windows, with the same graphical settings.
It was playable, especially if you lower the graphics to medium, and use proton experimental, atleast that worked for me.
I used the ubisoft connect version here: https://lutris.net/games/watch-dogs/
It runs worse than it would on windows, but using proton experimental eased the frame drops and made it more consistent, it becomes worse during physics intense situations and when speeding in a vehicle. But this was with a mix of ultra/high settings, on mostly medium settings with ambient occlusion turned off and anti-aliasing on FXAA it was easier and combat ran smoothly, played one mission with no problems with the cutscene. It mostly lags on during the situations I mentioned earlier, on high/ultra settings on windows it ran far smoother.
If your hardware is better than mine, the game might run pretty smoothly on high settings and maybe even ultra.
