Runs nearly perfectly out of the box
Minor visual lag when using the Dark Vision power
Broken as of the most recent update
The Cayo Perico update seems to have broken the game on Proton. I've tried the latest versions of Proton, GE, alyx, and experimental. The Rockstar games launcher usually crashes after launching. Using Proton experimental will get the game to boot up to a black screen, but will only play the first second of audio from the loading screen before freezing and eventually crashing
The Sarejevo Six update seems to have broken compatibility
I used to be able to get the game to run seamlessly using older versions of Proton, but after IOI added the Sarajevo Six to the game, I haven't been able to get it to run no matter what I do. Any attempt to load into any map is either met with a black screen or the game freezes while loading, and no amount of launch options or fiddling around with various versions of Proton has been able to fix it.
Loading screens were long and stuttery
tuxic's recommended fix of downgrading the Nvidia driver to version 525 made it work. The game was still freezing on Proton Experimental, but changing it to the latest Proton-GE has it run extremely well except on loading screens
The game runs well most of the time, but there seem to be a lot of bugs with audio and a few crashes related to menus
the audio seems extremely prone to bugs. Sometimes all of the audio would cut out and the game would freeze a few minutes later, and other times the audio and music would cut out and the game would freeze if any attempt was made to access the main menu or load menu. These issues are fixed on restarting the game but are frustratingly persistent.
Sometimes the game will fail to load certain menus, such as the workbench or map, and crash shortly thereafter.
The game is still playable but tends to be a bit frustrating given the bugs I've experienced
Processing the Vulkan shaders is time consuming, but doing so removes most of the stuttering issues that one would encounter otherwise
Works perfectly out of the box
Vehicle audio is either extremely quiet or absent, but no other sound issues
Impossible to download any mods
Despite being a Linux native program, it's impossible to use the mod browser to download any mods. Any attempt to do so will show a brief loading screen that immediately kicks the user back to the mod browsing menu without downloading the selected mod. It may be possible to download mods directly to the mods folder, but I didn't get around to trying it
Borked
I was able to get the game to start at first, but not download any mods. After downloading the mods from a separate site and manually adding them to the mods folder, I was able to successfully load and play with mods.
However, that only worked until I closed the game. Subsequent attempts to start the modloader either froze and had to be force closed, or simply returned an error message. This applied to both native versions of the program and windows versions run through Proton.
