The campaign ran completely fine and the multiplayer worked without any issues after tinkering.
Multiplayer games were kicking me out so I had to reinstall Punkbuster using this method by Dunkelklinge1.
- Go to the install directory and delete the "pb" directory with all its contents.
- Go to https://evenbalance.com/downloads.php and download the PBsetup utility (it's the first link on that page in the "PunkBuster Setup" section).
- Open up a terminal and install protontricks if you do not have already.
- Now run following command (adapt it to your pbsetup.exe path): protontricks-launch --appid 1238860 /path/to/pbsetup.exe
- Accept all hints. It may start an upgrade procedure - just wait for it to finish.
- Click "Add a Game", select Battlefield 4 (you may need to select it via the arrow keys). In "Game Path" enter the Z: drive path from protons perspective. In my case it is "Z:\home\user.local\share\Steam\steamapps\common\Battlefield 4".
- Click on "Add Game" an let it do it's thing.
- Close the tool and launch the game as usual via Steam.
Despite the achievements, I had no other problems and I can recommend playing the game on Linux.
The game doesn't register achievements on native version.
The game starts and seems to work good but after a while it begins lagging and becomes unplayable.
I have tried proton experimental. The launcher, that with default option didn't appear, appeared and the game was working good but after a few minutes I have ran into the same issues.
Runs smoothly without any issues
For some reason I had stupidly high sensitivity and was looking at the sky in every save I loaded and restart didn't help. I switched to Proton 8.0-5, reloaded the game and everything worked well. When I switched back to the newest proton version and loaded the same savegames I had issues with, the issue was miraculously gone so I can't be sure if the Proton or a KC:D bug was the problem.
I didn't encounter any bugs that would make the game annoying or unplayable. Warhorse has polished the game very well.
When I used the Czech keyboard layout, I couldn't switch between weapons and could only use the first slot. After switching to the US layout, everything works just fine.
The game ran flawlessly without any tinkering
When I changed the speaker mode, the game went silent but worked again after I restarted the game with the new setting.
Despite occasional crashes the game was running smoothly and I had no problems with it.
Once every two or three hours the game crashes with the FFFF error
